There has been a request that two additional fields be added to Easy Model Railroad Inventory. Both are date fields:

Last service date – last date locomotive/car was inspected maintained – ie checked couplers, wheels, bolster, looked for broken/missing parts, oiled, lubed, etc. – details of service in existing note box

Next Service date – for use as a reminder when locomotive/car should be inspected again – would be used on regular basis to print out a list of locomotives/rolling stock that is due for maintenance checks.

So the question is: "Would adding this field be useful?" Would you like to see them added to Easy Model Railroad Inventory.

Because I do not have a use, does not mean there is none. Yes and No votes are counted.

I see value in it

I'm not certain at this point if I'd use it, but I definitely see its use.

Yes

Yes.  As with Dave I don't know that I would use it but I see the value for others.

Agreed

Agreed. I do my maintenance/servicing on an annual basis, with running servicing if needed throughout the year, so a feature like this is one I wouldn't use.

Potential Addition #2

This would probably be a good addition. A breakdown window for locos would be a big help not add the maintance to the notes section. For rolling stock maybe a text box or two on the routing tab.

Last/Next service date field addition OK

No objection to adding these fields; not sure if I'd use them.

No

Bob,

I've no use for these fields. I service my equipment as required and will not spend time managing the maintenance schedule instead of running the railroad.

I can see where it would be useful....

I can see where it would be useful, but like many others, I would rather run trains than maintain a service schedule. What's the old saying?, Don't fix it if it ain't broke?!

Yes, I would use these fields.

These are fields that I would use.  For my home use, they would be nice to have.

For management of a larger club layout, these fields would almost be required.
