In August of 2020 my good friend Rick Wade was diagnosed with stage 4 brain cancer. Today at 6:30 in the morning the cancer won. At this point I don't know what to say, I miss him so much.

Rick was a true gentleman

Very sorry to hear this news.  I had only exchanged a couple of notes with him on this forum a few years back but was impressed with his helpfulness in sharing what he could with everyone.

May God be with his family in their time of grief.

Godspeed, Rick.

I met Rick a number years

I met Rick a number years ago when I visited an Orlando layout he had once been involved in. Later that afternoon I visited him at his home and saw his layout.  At that time i was still trying to come up with a track plan for myself, so I was exploring others. He was the gentleman who suggested I contact and visit you Michael Rose.

He was a real gentleman.

Rick was a good person and a great modeler

Rest in peace Rick. Michael, I know you lost a good friend. My condolences to you and his family. I had only a few exchanges with Rick here on the MRH forum. Hew was always helpful and optimistic. He will be missed by many.

Farewell Rick, God speed.

Farewell Rick, God speed.

I only knew him from on here and his website but he sure seemed a great guy and a very talented modeller. Having read about his battle with this hateful disease, I am filled with sadness at this.

Rest in Peace,

John E.

RIP, I only knew Rick from his posts here @ MRH.

I'm on the opposite coast, and never met him personally.  I have enjoyed his modeling and the content of his postings greatly, and I've missed seeing him post for the past few months.  My condolences to his family and friends.  He will be missed!

Sad news

Yes, that’s sad news, we'll miss Rick. He and I had many private conversations via email as well that I really enjoyed. He was an active member of this forum for many years, always contributing a glass half full perspective. So long, Rick. We will meet again some day on the other side.

Sad News: Rick's Passing

The world is a smaller place without Rick in it.
Sincere condolences to Rick's family and friends all.

Very sad news

Rick was a class act and will be missed.  I had hoped to visit him and Michael one day, but alas that will not be.  I think of Rick every time I see the L&N logo.

My condolences to you, Michael, and please pass them on to Midge and his family.

The world was a better place with Rick Wade in it.

It just doesn't feel possible that he is now gone.

We all benefitted from Rick's presence in our little modeling world.

Condolences to Rick's family and friends

Sad to hear of Rick's passing.  Many of us have lost other family and friends to some form of cancer, and it always saddens us to hear of another life claimed.

I believe that no one is truly gone as long as they are remembered by family and friends, and their memories shine bright for us all.  God bless Rick, his family, and his friends in this sad moment.
