SourceForge VS GitHub

Dear Pack,

SourceForge is an online code repositiory, a tool used by programmers to keep track of changes and distribution of files/applications/programs they have created. https://sourceforge.net/

SourceForge is legit, but JMRI uses the similar GitHub repository,
so I'm not exactly sure where you're clicking/linking to?

Try this

https://github.com/JMRI/JMRI/releases/download/v4.22/JMRI.4.22+R4c4384d74.dmg

Should download the latest stable release for MAC

https://www.jmri.org/download/

The URL that Prof Klyzlr

The URL that Prof Klyzlr posted above is good.

If you're having a problem with the "long link", try this one:

have given up on using the

have given up on using the apple item. as i bought it for a drone, but the overreaching faa has grounded thousands of these toys.

might tear it apart to use the cam in a dedicated front loco. as the radio waves should have no problems in my house. as outside it could transmit well over a couple miles. (or at least was told so).

so now the program is in a older laptop i can keep at the track side.

. . .`

You must have been trying to download some rather old version as JMRI has not been on Sourceforge for several years.  Versions prior to prior to 4.8 are still on SourceForge. All  others were moved over to Github.

That or the bookmarks you are using are outdated.

Updating JMRI

An FYI in case your situation falls under this case, taken from the 4.23.7 release note:

Quote:

Update From Older JMRI Versions

If you are currently using a version older than JMRI 4.20, please follow these instructions carefully:
  1. Is your current version older than JMRI 4.12? If so, then update to JMRI 4.12 first, and ensure everything works correctly: check start-up, check things you need to be working, and check the JMRI log as well) before doing anything else. Store your configuration and panel files under a new name and use those from now on. Then continue with step 2.

If you are currently using JMRI 4.7.3 or earlier on Linux or macOS (Windows doesn't need this), then it's very important that you update to JMRI 4.12 and carrying out the migration process described in the JMRI 4.12 release note before updating to any later relese.

  2. Is your current version older than JMRI 4.20? Then update to JMRI 4.20 first, and ensure that works correctly (check start-up, check things you need to be working, and check the JMRI log as well) before doing anything else Store your configuration and panel files under a new name and use those from now on.
  3. You can then install this release.

Following this multi-step order of updating via stable major releases safeguards you against possible migration issues that can arise from skipping these versions.

Sourceforge has changed hands a few times and it says much about the situation that the JMRI developers who were adamant that they would never, ever leave SF suddenly decided to move to Github.

Are you sure you have been trying to download through the actual JMRI project site?  All their download links have pointed to GH since the move.

not for me.i do not like

not for me.i do not like third party downloads.

heck i have this game on a disk, can not play it, as when i tried to load it to my computer, it down loaded something call "steam" and i can not remove it from my hard drive. keeps saying i need adm's ok.. I AM  adm.

never have been able to play the game, but steam does it's auto up-grades. if i know anything about coding i would go in and mess up some lines of code in the program. just to keep it from working.

Most modern games require

Most modern games require steam or an equivalent to play. Unfortunately that is the way the industry is going. Steam is essentially the equivalent of the Microsoft store or the Apple store on an iPhone. It is supposed to provide you security so that you know if it's on steam it's not a hacked version of the game.

I suspect with sourceforge it was trying to get you to load their background downloader tool. OR, most sourceforge pages have ads for tools that prominently display a link to "Download" tricking you into thinking that's the link to your software when it really isn't.

I see no reason to connect

I see no reason to connect online just to play a game.

this game is off a cd. So if no web access then no worries.
