Classic Metals re-released their

International r-190 trucks, they’re plastic now, easier to drill, but wheels seem a little cheaper. Who ever assembles them puts the fifth wheels on backwards, everything is glued, no more screws, but it prys apart quite easily. My only other complaint is on all their bigger trucks, they always add saddle fuel tanks. I cut one side off. I also added mirrors, grabs, and mud flaps ...

Leased power on the Santa Fe

Bought these P2k GN FA1 A& B unit at a train show years ago. Two weeks ago I replaced the cracked axle gears prior to selling them, but they now run so quiet and sweet, I have now decided to keep them. Love that "Empire Builder" scheme. At least they fit in my era! Maybe my Santa Fe were short of power and had to lease them?

Long-Bell Lumber

Great stuff this week, all.   Steve, I just cannot keep up with your great work!

A common customer for the Frisco in SE Kansas in the early 1900s. Long-Bell Lumber started out in Columbus Kansas and emerged as one of the first vertically-integrated large businesses in the U.S. I have been building this one for Weir City, KS on my "Crawford & Cherokee" layout.  This is the in-progress version posed on a small diorama.

This is a BEST Models "Just the Basics" kit (Aspen Lumber Co.) with some metal roofing from KC's Workshop.  After watching the recent Trainmasters TV video on weathering roofing, I was inspired to finish it up.

Great work as usual

Somebody asked about this in another WPF thread but I'll post it here to avoid confusion. It is from BLI.

If that’s a model, that’s simply brilliant. Either way, it’s a lovely scene.

Thanks Ron for the compliment—very kind words!

Working on the crashing ocean waves and some tall pines to complete the scene.  When all is said and done, this project will probably be well over 100 hours, buts it’s been very enjoyable from start to finish.

@ Jeff

Hey Jeff, if you are talking about the Frisco Sw they offered it in a Frisco scheme. So I didnt have to do anything major. Some some minor paint details to match the proto.

It's March 1971, and the newly formed BN still hasn't taken the time to repaint the fleet of trucks despite the company trying to renumber locomotives. The NP signal maintainer is counting down the years until he can retire from this new company. He figures as long as he can keep that new ugly black and green logo off his 5 year old truck he will keep working, but as soon as he hears word that he's getting a new truck that's it.
