Shay # 12 on the high bridge

West Side Lumber Shay # 12 pulls a string of log cars over the high bridge. This is a brass 3 truck Shay imported by PBL several years ago. It has a Tsunami decoder with Shay sounds. It's fun to watch her run, lots of spinning and moving parts.

@JD Hill

That scene looks great. What did you use for your armatures? They look a lot like roots.

Like Chris, I think you're off to a great start on your scenery.

A tale of two blue box cars

Great start this week as always everyone. I'll even pile on the Erie Western theme this week. here is a couple cheap Athearn cars.  The EW car got a patch job and weathered pretty heavy after looking at a couple proto pics. Mostly oils with some pastels for the streaks and lower body and trucks.  The waves in the SLSF car are pastels. Neither car was quite right but each plays the part fine I guess.    The final order of freight cars the Frisco ordered were PS 4750s that sadly were ordered in green for the upcoming merger.  So for the pic I paired it with 3100 the final locomotive the Frisco bought.

About the only detailing added was steel wheels and some quick bent wire lift bars and a Kadee breakwheel for each.    Thanks for looking,Steve

Erie Western

Modeltruckshop: Those ex ERES hoppers look fantastic!

ChrisB: I used JTT armatures (O and HO scale), which I sprayed with Scotch Super 77 then added Super Leaf scale leaf foliage:

Almost Home

Great work guys!  Steve, those blue boxes look awesome!  JD, looking good so far.  I really like that CP hopper.

Here's a shot of Soo train #221 waiting to enter the yard in Kansas City.  The conductor is out on the back porch to inspect a 'Sprint' train leaving town.  He'll have to wait on another outbound freight before the his train can enter the yard and tie down for the day.

Blue Box Hoppers...

Just goes to show that you don't have to have uber-detailed cars to have very convincing models.

Skill sets are where it's at!

Thanks Andre

I agree they can be fun still.  Like rescuing a stray with a little work they can be a keeper.

thanks, Steve

Cool sheen!

Good catch Dee! I really like the photo of the whole space.......looks like you've got it "going on".

BTW what is that gooseneck in the foreground? I'm guessing it's some kind of floor lamp or possibly a disintegrator left by Marvin the Martian?

Finished a diorama

Finished my Kanamodel wood grain elevator diorama. It was a good test of some ballasting and static grass techniques.
