It's another week . . . post 'em if you got 'em.  There were a few late-comers in last week's post.  Check them out, then come back here afterward.

New chapter

Our plans to downsize were recently moved up several years due to the strong seller's market right now, so my current layout based on the IAIS's West End is being dismantled.  However, planning for my new layout is already well underway.  I've shifted my focus to the next IAIS segment to the east, the most grain elevator-dense portion of the railroad:  Subdivision 4 between Atlantic and Adair, Iowa.  This 23-mile segment hosts 4 active elevator operations:  Large facilities on the Atlantic Spur and at Adair, a smaller elevator at Anita, and a simple grain auger load-out at Wiota, as well as fertilizer dealers on the Atlantic Spur (2) and at Adair, off-spot short-term gon storage at Atlantic, and a MOW operation based at Atlantic yard that brings in MOW flats, boxcars, and ballast hoppers.

My plan is to take Atlantic yard, the Pellett Fertilizer scene, and the end of the peninsula from the West End layout to reuse in my Sub 4 efforts, as well as all bridges, structures, trees, Homasote spline, and rail I can salvage.  Also, I've cut my current 10-track staging yard down to six tracks, and that'll be going with to serve as the basis for the staging yard shown above.  The portion of the current West End layout from the High Bridge on west through Council Bluffs, including IAIS's Bluffs Yard and UP's Pool Yard, have been sold, along with all my excess equipment, and are due to be picked up in a couple weeks.

If interested, more info about the move can be found at https://forum.mrhmag.com/post/iaiss-west-end-the-end-of-the-west-end-12216663 , while details on my new Sub. 4 layout can be found at https://forum.mrhmag.com/post/iaiss-4th-sub-a-new-beginning-12216708

Joe, that looks like it will

Joe, that looks like it will be a enjoyable layout to operate on! Here are my contributions for this week.

First up is a fire station  I have been working on, a slightly weathered ST flatcar and a prototype photo taken before church this morning.IMG_0866.JPG IMG_0855.JPG IMG_0859.JPG

Embedding TT

Stuck2soon, to add a Flickr link you need to click on the "Embed Media" icon above the comment box. It looks like a film roll. I use the Flickr Medium 640x480 size option.

Just completed a few TT scale kits from TiTan Models. A group of NP 2-bay offset hoppers and an ATSF unit train coal hopper. These are the first of my US TT scale rolling stock.

Thanks. I copied the BB code

Thanks. I copied the BB code instead of the embed code, my only other experience of uploading photos is on The Rustbucket Forum which requires the BB code.

This could be a whole new world for me...

Thank you

Thank you very much Neil and Jeff.

Jeff, I really like your work on that flatcar's trucks, as well as the ARMN Trinity behind it. Your new fire station looks good too.

Steve, really nice snow shots.  I've always liked those Frisco GP50s.

Steve B., nice work on those TT coal hoppers, especially the weathering.

A freak event. Ten minutes

A freak event. Ten minutes later and we were back to the usual damp, gloomy north of England autumn. Sigh.

Goals

Quote:

I have goals anyway.   My hope is to have the wall to section off the layout room, plus lighting and paint, done by February 1, benchwork by April 1, and Homasote splines by June 1, leaving me almost 6 months to lay the track in order to meet my self-imposed goal of having everything running on the new layout within the first year.

Unfortunately, it's doubtful that any of those projects would produce anything feast-worthy.

Down by the station...

As always, it's the summer of 1943 at the Hunter, TN depot, and a lovely local gal is waiting for her sweetheart to arrive with a 72-hour pass at Camp Forrest:

The old men are inside arguing about checkers and the war "across the water" at the Grindstaff store near Hurley Hollow, at Sadie, TN

The commuters wait for the 12:15 to Johnson City at the Buladeen depot:

Another duty day is halfway done at 'Baker' Company, 796th ROB:

And near the Ensor farm, the gap is set correct to keep the cows in their pen. New-fangled flatlander swing gates are unheard of here:
