Just finished watching this great video(finally)!

Picked up some good advice and can't wait for parts 2 & 3 to come out. Very timely for me as I want to model the mid 80's just before CSX came to life. Bob mentioned his admiration for the CP cylindrical hoppers.

Our family had a liquid fertilizer business and we would get white soluble potash in on rail and I loved going the mile down to Purcell Station on the old C&EI, now L&N when the photos were taken, and watch them unload the hoppers. I was about 8 years old at the time and loved climbing on the hoppers and just absolutely loved the CP script hoppers! A love that has never stopped.   Must haves for the layout!

Notice the high positioned brake wheel. One time a northbound train passed that I never saw coming and scared me to death! The mainline was right next to the Purcell siding and that train had the car rocking! This line was the C&EI main from Chicago to Evansville and is now CSX's mainline from Chicago to Nashville.

Thanks for setting in the right side chair Bob. LOL!

Rapido's Seaboard System B36-7's work absolutely perfect for me!

Those cars and cabooses

The thing I remember about those hoppers was that they were part of the train the railroads put together to illustrate why cabooses were obsolete.  The sides stick out as far as the bays on a bay window caboose so the conductor can’t see around them.
