Anyone watched the new TrainMasters video from Mike Confalone yet? It is like all of his, very well done.

This is one of if not the best layoust IMHO out there. The scenery is very realistic and the operational aspects are numerous.

I would love to know what camera Mike is using to record these wonderful videos.

Keep up the great work Mike.

Jeff

Camera

Thanks Jeff

This was done with my Sony camera. I also use a GoPro, which i shot the entire Allagash Trackside Action series with. Both are great and enable me to do different things.

Hope you enjoy the operations. More to come down the road.

Loved it

Best part of TMTV is Mike Confalone’s work. I agree with everything Jeff said. He did an outstanding job and it is nice to see someone who puts value in simulating realistic operations. You can have the most highly detailed and weathered rolling stock and ultra realistic scenery but destroy the entire thing by running the trains in an unrealistic manner slamming into the cars and jackrabbit starts and stops.

Mike’s thoughtful process of thinking about what crew members would be doing in a typical situation helps to add to the overall realism. An off shoot of this methodology can improve your switching skills and make more efficient moves. In part of the video he even realized that had the yard master lined up his train in Madrid Yard track 4 instead of track 6, it would have eliminated the switch back move. (Mike you should talk to your Yard Master about this...Lol)

Even though I am a TMTV member I had to order the DVD and can’t wait for it to arrive to see the entire thing. I really hope Mike continues to make more of these Up Close and Personal videos. They are a fantastic way in showcasing the operations on the Allagash!

Glad you feel the Allagash is good

Glad you feel the Allagash is good TMTV material. For the time being, we’re running short on layout videos, so Mike is helping fill that gap with Allagash videos. I will also be making an appeal for resurrecting MyLayout on TMTV as the MRH cover story for October. With MyLayout, we take video you have shot showing your layout and we add a commentary wrapper to it and post it on TMTV. The October MRH will be giving complete instructions on how to submit a piece to MyLayout. I’m thinking every MyLayout submission we use you get paid $200 if we accept it. Then every ten MyLayout episodes we pick one to be given a special $1000 bonus. Or for those of you who feel really ambitious, if you want to talk to us about doing a video series in the same spirit as what Mike's doing, we pay a premium per minute of video rate if the video is a great topic and very well made.

I think Tim's Seaboard

I think Tim's Seaboard Central , To Klimoski's GNRR and Joe's Iowa Interstate would make great TMTV material.

Mike, thanks for the info on the camera.
