C&NW Ironwood, MI Roundhouse

The hostler moves GP-7 #1632 out of the roundhouse after an oil change and monthly inspection.

Roundhouse was shared with the Soo Line as part of an ore pooling agreement on the Gogebic Iron Range_1443(2).JPG

The roundhouse and sanding tower are scratchbuilt from prototype drawings. The turntable is by Diamond Scale.

Korber Roundhouse, Diamond Scale Turntable

I'm in the process of rebuilding my Korber roundhouse and Diamond Scale turntable  over here,..

I think I did a pretty neat job of building a new pit for my turntable, to replace the stock plaster one that got warped

Nice Open Top One

Just ran across this image I took of a gentleman's open-top roundhouse on his long slender layout in Jacksonville FL.

I think I want to make my rebuilt Korber one to look like this.

Long thin room

My first attempt at building

My first attempt at building my own turntable. As you can see here there was no pit walls installed yet. The bottom of the pit was separated from the upper track deck by a series of long machine bolts around the perimeter (4 bolts I think is what I used). The turntable bridge itself was built using upside down Atlas plate girder bridges with Roco curved cord bridge sections glued on top.

Thanks Deemiorgos

The prototype is manual, so I thought that I would do the same, it's a lot more simple, and in O scale, I was able to make the position locks in brass functional, so no problem of indexing.
