Okay, here it is, for your appreciation and evaluation:

https://drive.google.com/open?id=124BxcauUAKU0kOqP6lrr-TdlEKosuH9U&usp=sharing

This is an amazing moving target - while I was QC'ing the spreadsheet I collected the info on, I discovered that two of the shops are in the process of closing, one of which was announced only last Friday.

Stuff missing: There are four US states that apparently either have no hobby/train stores, or just didn't have any that managed to get my attention: Alaska, Hawaii, Maine, and Oklahoma. I would be happy to add any stores in those states, or anywhere on the globe for that matter.

Please look through the map. If you are in a position to do so, please help me fill in the blanks, like hours open.

Description

To hobby shop owners: This was way harder to put together than it needed to be. The amount of effort it took to find physical locations, as well as business hours (for those who had them) on your web sites was absurd. Put it up front and make it obvious. There is no reason to hide it in the "Contact Us" or "About Us" pages.
Also, take a look at your business hours - there are some shops that in seven days are open for only one, two, or three of them - and for different hours on each day. I wonder how much traffic you might be missing because nobody actually knows when you are open? Particularly if you are only open for six hours a week, on one day...

How do we use the map?

I tried clicking on North America to see what hobby shops are listed.  I kept getting hobby shops in Western U.S.  The nearest hobby shop to So Cal that opened was in Las Vegas, Nev.  I was hoping to enlarge the continental U.S. portion, then enlarge California and see what Hobby shops are shown.  I must have missed something.  The map of North America seems pretty useless for finding anything.

You should be able to just zoom in.

I zoomed in on California and there is a nice line of them up the state.

Very nice! And a Maine entry

I like how you’ve set it up, this is a great resource and will get better as more things get added.  Great job!

I’m hoping there are at least a few more hobby shops around the Boston area.  I’ll report ‘em if I find ‘em.

You mentioned nothing in Maine.  I bought a few cars at a train show from Maine Modelworks:

https://mainemodelworks.com/

Address and hours are right on the web page:

Maine Modelworks Retail Store
374 US-1, Yarmouth, ME 04096

Tuesday: 10AM-5PM
Wednesday: 10AM-7PM
Thursday: 10AM-5PM
Friday: 10PM-5PM
Saturday: 9AM-4PM

Phone: 207) 781-8300">(207) 781-8300

From the business card I picked up at the train show, the email is mainemodelworks1@gmail.com.

I’ve never been there in person, but I’d bet it’s worth a visit if you’re in the Yarmouth area.

Up to date at least in California

Richard's Junction in Lodi closed in December. I believe we are now down to just 12 to serve the 40 million Californians. Berkeley hardware is just a shadow of its former self with the train counter crammed into a small corner after the store was forced to move off University Blvd. Talbot's in San Mateo also closed recently.  I am lucky to have Just Trains which is as it's name says just trains doing alright in nearby Concord.  I visit once a week whether I need anything or not.

How to use this map

Because the hobbyshop map uses Google Maps, you can easily ask for directions now. Just use the zoom box on the right of the map to zoom into it in a new tab or app window. From there you can ask for directions to any hobbyshop shown on the map.

ModelU in the US?

ModelU is hoping the visit the US East Coast in the coming months.  Hopefully we will find out further plans soon.

Their 3 D print figure business is expanding. I have no connection other than to wish them very much success. See their attached newsletter for the new collection of Dickensian figures from 1851 below. I have a few of their 4 mm prints and they are the best representations of humans I have seen. Far better even than the Preiser figures.  They appear to have found a way to scan people in costume in realistic railroad related poses and use a proprietary mesh software to facilitate highly accurate 3 D prints on their own printers.  See  https://mailchi.mp/modelu3d/modelu-news-february-2020?e=bd8ff8218e

Not cheap but worth it if they fit your need.  The Pendon museum collection of farm and village folk from the 1930's is really museum worthy.

Again I have no connection but appreciate something new and ingenious in the hobby.

Phoenix area Hobby Stores

Hello , here are some more Hobby Stores that cater to Model Railroads and scenery . I have shopped these stores and found them friendly knowledgeable  and not too bad on prices, Still has not been the same though since Roys Train World closed up...there are also quite a few  hobby stores that have the typical "Introduction" set ups

I drool at their models of people and think that they are totally worth the price.......only problem is that there aren't any modern North American types. I'm waiting......

It lists Milepost 38 trains but not Arnies!

Arnies bought Milepost 38 a couple of years and expanded into the building next door.  They then split the 2 shops with Milepost 38 specializing in O & G size trains, but Arnies is still next door specializing in HO & N scale.  I saw a listing for  Railmaster Hobbies called out on the map, but no address showed up for their store in Bellflower, Ca.  Caboose Hobbies in Pasadena was not listed, and I think they also bought out Allied Model Trains in Culver City and moved that store into another building with in a block of the old store.  Also there is the Train Crossing in Costa Mesa.  I'm not sure if there are other stores in the L.A. metro area.  I remember visiting a train store in Santa Barbara a few years ago, but it has been years since I was in Santa Barbara that I don't know if the store is still there.  I looked up California when the request for stores first came out and thought I saw posts about all of the stores except the one in Santa Barbara, so I did not post any info.

Arnie's and Milepost 38 are probably right on top of one another

They're both in there....

Arnie"s Trains is not showing

Arnie' Trains is not showing.  Milepost 38 is.  Maybe you will have to list them as Arnie's Trains and Milepost 38 sense they are right next to each other and owned by the same person.

Jeff: They're there. They're just pretty much on top of each other, what with next door addresses.
