So I'm new here.  Just Moved recently, dragging out my old HO trainset stuff from decades ago.  I'm into Milwaukee Road, especially lines west, as my father worked as an electronic maintainer.  Moved to Deer lodge, Montana in 1974.  Saw the last years of electric locos-little joes and box cabs-and survived the abandonment in 1980.

I'm slowly starting to resurrect my train layout.  I'm wanting to loosely base it on the WSS&YP that connected with the MILW at Ringling, and ran north to White Sulphur Springs.

Any one out there into something similar?  Have you built along this theme?  Drop me a line.

Welcome!

Welcome to the MRH website forums, Randall. Let's hope some of the registered readers who model a similar region and prototype are online and see your post.

I don't know anything about your prototype but.......

I do know about the itch to create a model railroad with personal attachments to your early years!

Welcome aboard and please keep us in the loop about the new project.......lot of good folks here.

A Warm Welcome

Randall,

You will find many modelers here that have exciting projects. They also are quite helpful in all the areas of model railroading. There is a plethora (cornucopia ?) of information available from the MRH issues - over 100 issues available to all here - a forum member has developed a searchable TOC from which you can find specific issues having articles of interest to you (selectable from the menus on the web page). Many videos, both in the MRH YouTube channel and the MRH hosted MRH Theater. I am hopeful you can achieve your goals in modeling while enjoying the adventure.

Another happy MRH reader.

Thanks for the encouragement Rick

Nice to get feedback so quickly.  The WSS&YP was the White Sulphur Springs and Yellowstone Park Railroad.  Montana Railroading in the 70's left an impression on me that is unforgettable, a great adventure, a story of heroes, and pathos.

Welcome

I too model the railroad from my childhood. I grew up four blocks from the Florida East Coast. My cousin and I would rush (bikes or running, a wonder we never were hit by cars, but then not as much traffic in late 50s early 60s) to the tracks whenever we heard a train. Watched the local with one Geep switch the team track, Rinker concrete, Thies distributors and others. Saw the streamline passenger trains and collected many timetables (that unfortunately were not saved).

Have a great time recreating what you remember.

Blessings:

Intro like a first words spoken like into in meeting of group.

I like the title; reminds me of the first line people say at an AAA meeting.

Here it's a Modelrailroaders Anonymous meeting!  group chorus - "Hello Randall"...

BTW, while I am a D&RGW fan of the late 1970's, the more I have learned and seen photo's of the late "electrified" era, the more fascinated by it I have become.  Beautiful scenery and interesting trains.

If you aren't aware of it, Bill Heiden's Milwaukee model railroad is fantastic and depicts the RR in the west in dramatic scenery.

Cheers, Jim
