This is the first run of my new N Scale Broadway Limited NW2 Switcher.  While I have a couple of other small switcher engines (Bachmann 44-ton & an S-4) that have factory installed DCC decoders in them, this is the first that has both factory installed DCC and sound. I am impressed with the engine so far but it will need to be broken in and have its address changed from 3 to 2408. I will also look at using JMRI to maybe adjust its speed curve once it is broken in.  As I mentioned in the video, I have also ordered a BLI N Scale UP switcher (SW7).  Both sound equipped switchers will work in the Union Station area.

Thanks.

For the video.

Though I'm in HO, I was curious as to how the Paragon 3 sound compares to the flying saucer EMD sounds of Paragon 1 and 2 so checked out your video. The sound is quite an improvement. Sounds much more like an EMD that previous iterations of same.

I never knew

I never knew what a flying saucer sounded like before, thanks Andre. Now if I hear one I'll be sure to duck.

You're welcome!

Yup, the P1 and P2 versions sounds like the flying saucer sound effects heard in many of the old B Sci-Fi movies.

In the case of the P1/P2, it's more of a whirring noise than an EMD sound. I have at a couple P1's and at least a half dozen of the BLI P2 EMD NW/SW's, so quite familiar with the P2 sounds in particular.

You are Welcome

Andre,

It is amazing to me how BLI could get a decent amount of sound out of such a small engine.  I know that some of the other larger engines that I have either with BLI decoders or with Loksound in N scale are also very loud.

You are Welcome Too

Sometimes there is a difference in what is shown on a company ad and what you get in real life, especially in N Scale.

Thanks

Bob,

Yes I think that it needs some breaking in and then a speed curve adjustment.  After that is done I plan on ding a switching exercise to see how it performs and will post it here on MRH.

Maybe

Maybe so, but there isn't a lot of free real estate inside any N Scale engine for one.  I went back a day later and put some CRC226 on my track & turnouts in San Angela and the engine ran a lot better.  I use Peco electrofrog and the closure rails can gunk up pretty fast when not running a lot of trains (I've been working on scenery on other parts of the layout).
