Nothing new, I just realized how that i should have been making individual blog posts instead of just adding to one post.  So I just copied this post to a new blog post.

We held the session Saturday morning.  I had invited Joe Atkinson to come for a session on my layout.  Joe was able to make it down and op with us.  After a little bit of chit chat and explaining of the layout, we got to work.

Quin has the throttle for SB 773 as Joe gets ready set out a loaded hopper of lime on the Ruston house track.

The crew is working to make up the train for the NB 774 in Alexandria (the main staging yard).  Joe is keeping a watchful eye as Quin relaxes at the throttle.

Joe's is waiting patiently for Quin to ease the cut of cars onto the Muddy Creek Mill spur at DuBach as they make the run back north.   Need to find a caption for this picture?

Joe said it's about 10 years since he's played on an N scale layout, and even though he's wearing his glasses, he said the tabs that I used for the car forwarding made it very easy to see what needed to be done without them.  He also said how impressed he was at how far N scale has come in regards to the running abilities of the locomotives.  Joe had to hog law out a bit early so they tied the train down in El Dorado for the night.

The next day my mother came to visit for the day and I recruited her to be the engineer on the 774 so I could finish out the session.  Not sure she was too thrilled with the idea at first, but she did a great job!

Finishing up the work at Gavilon

Getting ready to tie the 774 down in Little Rock (same staging yard that's used for Alexandria)

After that we finished up the work in Malvern, first we pulled the cars in from the interchange track at Haskell that was left by the 774.

A few fresh loads of pulp for Crusmoore Inds.

Fun

Looks like fun.  Modern N scale operates very well.  If had operated as well 35 years ago as it does today, I might still be in N scale.

Had a good time Dave.

I'm glad I stuck with N.  Almost switched a few times myself.

The ROCK!

Lovin' me some N scale Rock!

Over the years, I've been all over the southern and some of the mid western portions of their line including portions of your layout: Biddle Yard area, Hot Springs Branch; Malvern, etc. Even made it as far south as Leola, AR on their "Little Rock" line.

I could see the Rock from my kitchen window in their final months. Super enjoyed watching the tired old line go about its business and was very bummed when it was all over.

Anyway, I digress.

Looked like a fun time and I like the way your layout is shaping up! Can't have too many Rock Island modelers!

Ops Session

Great  photos of your layout.  I always enjoy pics of a layout showing operators interacting with others during an ops session.  Looking forward to future updates.

Thank you!

I appreciate your comments.

I would have loved to be able to see the area I'm modeling when they were still running.
