Bear Creek and Jackson freight headed by SP AC-5 4111

Four of us ventured from the Vancouver BC area down to the Western Oregon Ops weekend June 13th to 15th in the greater Portland area.  On our way down we operated on Joe Green's beautiful rendition of the C&O set in the mountains of Virginia ( http://www.soundrail.org/layouts2.php?m=green).  His layout kept the four of us quite busy for the better part of a day, and the layout offers some great photo opportunities.

WOOPS ( http://woopsonline.org/) had 13 layouts total, I had the opportunity to operate on 3 of them.  Charlie Comstock's Bear Creek and South Jackson, Jerry B's Santa Fe Pasquinel Division and the Cascade, Columbia and Western club layout.  All three were excellent and overall it was a great operating weekend.  The wrap up meal was great, as were the video presentations.  Many thanks to the organizing committee, and I look forward to WOOPS 2021.  More photos are in the comments below.

Bear Creek and South Jackson

Many people are familiar with the BC&SJ through MRH.  This was my first time running there, and it was an enjoyable day running over the line.  TT&TO is always fun, especially with a group who are familiar with how it is done.

Pasquinel Division

Big trains through big scenery is appropriate for the Pasquinel Division.  6 SD's leading a 62 car coal train, 60+ reefers led by an ABBA set of F units, and a 19 car Super Chief are just some of the things you see on this layout.  One of my highlights from WOOPS.  I hope to go back again sometime.

Good weekend

I had the fun of helping out with the Willamette MRR Club on the Columbia, Cascade, and Western.  The knowledge and preparedness of the visiting railroaders was impressive. We, as a club, always learn a lot from these events.

CC&W

On Saturday I operated on the Columbia, Cascade and Western club layout.  It is a well thought out layout with some well done scenes and many sections in progress.  Operationally it was pretty much flawless, with no major issues.  It was  a great way to wrap up the weekend along with the banquet and presentations.

Great Experience, Again

I also attended WOOPS and I must agree that it was an event that was well executed. My thanks to the organizing crew and all the layout owners and helpers. The 2017 inaugural WOOPS was good and this year was better. It was fun to see old friends and meet new ones. Including you Marc.

WOOPS 2021

Craig and other interested in Western Oregon OPerationS,

WOOPS is a Bi-Annual event--odd years in (early) June.  As we develop the event we established a webpage this year: http://woopsonline.org  We expect to use that same webpage in the future.  That future points  to June 2021, for the next event.  It likely will be very early June to avoid conflict with the NMRA National Convention which will be held in early July, in Santa Clara, CA.  We hope to get more wide-spread notice posted about WOOPS 2021 as we firm up our organizing efforts during that winter.  Meanwhile, dropping a note of interest to the registrar address noted on the website will get you added to the intrested in participating list.
