really nice looking scene.

I love the look of this scene. These trees we see through the bridge look real good to. You made reference to homemade sculptamold. Do you have a receipe or method for it? I would be interested in it. Thanks

Home Made Scultamold

Pierre

There are quite a few recipes all over the web.

The one I use is very simple.

Use the green bag insulation that is ground up newspaper.

Loosely break it up in an old dishpan.

A couple of scoops of plaster(I use Hydrocal).

Optional latex paint for coloring.

Water. You can add this before the plaster to shrink down the insulation.

Get your hands into it and mix like dough.

Continue to add insulation and plaster if need be.

When it is a little sticky then you have enough plaster.

I grab a handfull and make patties that are easy to apply.

Looking great

Steve: That fascia color is growing on me (as I sit drinking my espresso, of course). How many gallons of resin have you used?

I have been thinking lately about the "Ideal" layout vs the "Dream" version and large scale is just waiting for me out in the yard. Been so hot and muggy lately that working outside isn't fun BUT I could be building trestles, structures, or rolling stock!

Looks great!

3 gallons of resin.

The color I used for the fascia is called “Man Cave” from Kelly Moore

I tried expresso paint and it is dark brown almost black.

Second photo is new fascia color with the doors removed to

paint.

That is beautiful work! Almost makes a lifetime HO guy think that a big change of scale could be a lot of fun. Spotted your Byrnes tools, did they get a workout on that trestle?

Rick Lot's of Sawdust!

Rick

I notched all the timbers so the Byrnes saw definitely came in handy.

Clavey Bridge Water Tank

ks%20007.jpg IMG_1948.JPG

I am building this on a 12" x 12"(footer) for a now canceled meet.

When I finish vegetation and spout with weights and chains I will

install it on my layout.

That tank looks great, what

are you using to stain the wood?

Stains

I start with water soluble India ink and alcohol mix.

Next I use a brown shoe polish/alcohol mix.

Washes of thinned latex craft paints usually platinum gray mixed with nutmeg...

New LED Lights with CRI of 95

IMG_1997.JPG

Replaced my 16 LED 4' lights with a CRI of 80 to these that have  CRI of 95.

The new ones are also dimmable. The color difference is amazing.
