Been a couple of months since I have posted, but I have been busy.  As Lance Mindheim drew up the track plan the forefront and back ground had a lot of ground cover.  This was consistent with what I told him, my modeling skills were modest.  Ground cover is a lot easier than scratch building structures.   But I felt it did not capture the feel of the prototype setting.  I wanted to see trains running behind buildings.  So I widened the bench work from the planned 18 in to 24 in and looked for buildings that I could scratch build in front of the track.  I found a group of buildings along NW 35th Ave, the FEC runs behind the buildings.  I feel pretty good about my efforts here, so this week I ordered track, wire, ballast, ground cover, etc. I hope to have track down in the next month and a shakeout operating session in a couple of months.

You can find the location on Google Maps by typing in Miami, Glad Rags Closeouts (blue building) then turning around 180 degrees.  New pictures were just posted on Google Maps, they have repainted the green building.

Great

I’d say your modeling skills are above “modest”. Those structures look great.

Way cool!

You really captured the feel. Congrats!

I'm still trying to figure out the prototype cafeteria and Glad Bags businesses. Very unique and a little weird. My kind of neighborhood for an atmospheric scene.

Very nice!

Great modeling Jack!  I'll be watching your progress closely going forward.  Very interesting prototype, and you're doing a really nice job recreating it.
