This month's op session was well attended and another excellent variety of model trains was run over the layout.

I'm not always the best at coming back to look at comments here, but I was surprised how misunderstood my track cleaning video was from the comments. 

In fact it appeared some people didn't watch the entire video or watch it at all and decided from other comments that it was wrong.  Despite the video coming out months before the recent MRH article, both come to the same conclusion about polar solvents.  The only difference is that I use a polar solvent (acetone) to get very dirty rails clean FIRST IF NEEDED, then remove and replace the acetone with a non-polar solvent, an electronic lube know as CRC 226.  With years of using this method and 40+ group members having run on the layout, dirty track is nary a problem.  Non-polar is the way to go indeed.   In fact just before the op session in the above video I ran the CMX car around with JUST ONE PASS of CRC-226 and that was all of my prep for the op session.  It doesn't get any easier than that.  When more time has passed or there is more dirt, more of the steps shown in the video may be needed.  

I will try to view comments more promptly so as to head off any confusion like what got started in my last post.
