Here are some photos I took of my O scale Soo Line switching layout at this year's Chicago O Scale Meet.  I thought I'd share these so you could see the progress made on the layout since it was first exhibited back in 2013.

I hope you enjoy them.

Thanks,
Damin.

That Geep looks like....

Soo painted it with the broom attached....MLW was treated pretty shabbily by the Soo, and you loco looks perfectly abused.  Love the whole package!

Peace Bill

Yeah Boy!

You can really feel the mass of the trains when looking at excellent O scale scenes.

The broom comment was great. Took me back to a dusty gravel road in southern Illinois when a very bright red car pulled up with my oldest cousin driving. Apparently he had just painted his chariot (I'm not sure that he knew what masking was) and had stopped to show it off to my other older cousin that I was walking with. A couple of greetings were passed and then a long silence. Then the cousin I was walking with leaned in to the proud owner of the very new paint job and said with a slow drawl "What dya' do....paint it with a broom?"

I was only about 11 years old but I have never forgotten that moment!

Nice layout!

I really like the heft that 1:48 has. I sometimes regret selling my Atlas Southern Pacific GP60. Oh boy, here I go on Ebay.

Scott, I did bring it, but both it and my RailDriver were having issues.  Both were working great on Friday morning before I packed them up for the show.  And then when I got to the show, neither would work.  I was up until the wee hours of Saturday trying to figure it out.  Murthy's Law, I guess.

The PT receiver had a blinking red LED that (according to the manual) meant that there was another PT transmitting on the same base address.  I tried different addresses but that LED was still blinking and the PT still couldn't connect.  I ended up running the trains (I brought two locomotives: the SOO bandit, and a GM&O RS-1) using a JMRI "back and forth"-style Jython script or my iPhone using WiThrottle.

Of course once I got back home, everything worked again!

Thanks,
Damin.

...RF links at shows... (worst fears realised)

Dear Damin, What you experienced is exactly what I fear as a regular Exhibition Layout presenter... As is the rule with any Pro Audio or Event/concert production that uses radio mics/equipment, _Always_ have a _Wired_ backup solution plugged-in and ready-to-go... ...not just something cool to say, But Words to Live by... Thanks!  I started working on my "new" layout a couple years ago.  I have a layout construction diary here...

I haven't posted anything in quite a while.  Life got in the way; and then I moved.  I hoping to get back to working on it soon.  But first, I have to finish organizing the stuff in the garage so I can mount it back on the wall.

I'll keep you posted,
Damin.
