As you know the mountain was

As you know the mountain was never finished but the CELEX building on the G&AM was supposed to act like a tunnel entrance:

Re-purposed

Hi Rick and all,

Well, you did ask..It's another one from the Corrimal files.

This one is in disguise - It was a HO Woodland Scenic plaster tunnel portal. Now its a culvert under a narrow-gauge O-scale tramway. The culvert made a brief appearance in Module 4 - the Dead-End (of the Incline) way back on Page 2 of the Corrimal saga. Must have been a long hot summer, the creek's not running.

1230827a.jpg

The "feet" on each side of the portal were amputated to lower the height. The amputated feet turned into the part of the portal on the upstream side. A row of stones with the capping strip were also amputated to lower the height above the top of the portal.

It's the tunnel you have when you aren't having a tunnel

John Garaty

Not your usual tunnels..

Hi Rick and all,

Time for some other different tunnels. These aren't even standard-gauge. The story of these 2 tunnels is yet to appear in the Corrimal saga, but mine portals rate as tunnels as far as I'm concerned,

The main coal handling portal

and the Men & Materials portal

The story of how we got from bare baseboards to these 2 portals is soon to arrive on the Corrimal Colliery incline thread,

Regards,

John Garaty

Love the multi-level double portals!

Very railroady!  I think maybe I'll include one, I like the way you've done that so much.  Thanks for sharing.

@ Rick

I was a little late at the tunnel entrance but I did get a picture.....

It’s a long tunnel.  Now I’m looking for a flashlight.  Here’s my email address.  Someone suggested that since I was going to be in Florida I should try to find you.  Sounded like a good idea.

No lovely finished scenes to

No lovely finished scenes to show but on my last layout I needed a custom built tunnel portal for a spot.  I haven't scratch built anything in a long time but bought some styrene stock and slapped something basic together here; will find a spot on the planned layout for it if possible painted concrete.

Just roughed in scenery at

05.26.35.jpg Just roughed in scenery at this point but with a couple of 4 day weekends coming up I am hoping to get this area carved down, plastered and at least basic ground foamed.

Bottom tunnel is main and siding approx 3' long. The top entrance is going to a branch line staging yard.
