A few weeks ago I posted a question about wiring an 060 AHM switcher for dcc snd was told that the red

wire is always on the right and black is to the left now every decoder has an orange and grey wire they

have to be wired to something my understanding is that the grey wire is negative and the orange is positive

but when I conect them this way and program the decoder the engine makes a few clicking sounds like its

suposed to do but then takes right off down the program track before I can finish with the final step of the

program  YES THE MOTOR IS TOTALY ISOLATED FROM THE FRAME  any body out there have any

more sugestions a big thank you if you do

Ron,

Something does not make sense here.

A loco, on the programming track will not shoot down the track. There is no power applied to the track to permit engine mouvement apart a small acknowledgement pulse.  If your engine goes down the track something is wrong in your setup or we are missing some infomation.  Unless you are i OPS mode during the ptrogramming, this is not right.

And the orange wire is the motor positive.  Some motors have a paint mark to identify the positive pole.

Remember Program tracks are

Remember Program tracks are always completely isolated from any power from the main power unless your running a lenz system where you can program any engine anywhere if you know what your doing.
