Yes.

But... just used the cheapest, unscented hairspray you can find... and it should be fine. The colour will get darker while it's wet, but will even back to it's original colour once it's dry.

At least that's been my experience with ground cover. (though, I use tea leaves for ground cover, but I can't really see why there would be any noticeable difference)
