Just because looking after  a set of Nscale frog on the Proto 87 store, I see again the switch machine offeresd by Proto 87 website.

Price seems ok for a stalling machine, even if it need resistor to drop the voltage.

They are small and seems simple and reliable and following the Proto 87 reputation they are for sure good turnouts switch machines.

They are may be a good choice in place of the well know switch machines motors.

So a simple question did anyone have try them and ahad some report about.

Thanks to share.

Mole Proto 87 motors, two options

After a come back to the site of Proto 87, they also sold  a mole motor which allow to move a switchstand target and at the same price as a common Proto 87 switch machine.

The price is 12,95$.

I have not heard of anybody

I have not heard of anybody using them either. How well do they work, are they easy to assemble? I do like the moving target idea.

If anybody has used them, let us know. Even if you just used one for testing.

Mole switch motors

I have 8 of them installed on the Great Western.  I have previously used Switchmaster motors for the plywood/homasote parts of the layout but the upper level is all extruded foam and I didn't want to have anything hanglng down below the foam.

I carved rectangular wells in the foam with a hot wire tool and installed the Moles in the wells with a bent link coming up to the turnout. A piece of styrene covers the well and is covered with scenery.

They work very well and have been in place for years. I use NCE Switch-8s to control them.
