My son just bought a Zippo display case with 10 or more shelves. 2 1/2 feet tall maybe...4 foot long.  I thought to myself..man, that would be great for my trains if I modeled N scale.  Alas...I tinker in HO, so I won't be buying one.

FYI...the Zippo case is very well built and has plexi for front ..not real glass.

This is one

This is one a friend made for me about ten years ago.. Size is 4 x 8. It's full of trains now, dragons and other stuff moved to a different place in the house.

HO or smaller...

I've seen several cases over the years that'd work for trains, but only for HO or smaller scales.

I did, however, notice that a baseball bat display case can fit most On30 stuff. I bought one and eventually plan on hanging it up somehwere in the layout room with rolling stock I wouldn't be using on my layout:
