Okay, a couple of weekends ago, Bruce Barney and Rod Loder held the first Bridgetown RPM meet at Taborspace in Portland, OR.

Joe Fugate and I went, to see the models, to show off MRH/TMTV, and to demonstrate the Proto-throttle. The Proto-throttle almost didn't get shown off, as Joe's original version NCE PowerPro system wouldn't run the Proto-throttle. Fortunately, Joe Brugger had an updated PowerPro that would, and lived somewhere nearby.

I had a camera along of course.

Group tables

Most of the tables were shared by multiple modelers, such as this one. Brian Sopke's models are front and center to the photo:

983_crop.jpg

Some tables were dedicated to a single modeler, such as Heather Clark's:

With all the photos, clicking on them will open a larger copy.

Nice!

I wish there was something like that here in San Diego... I know the museum in Balboa hs their swap meet every so often, but finding out when is always a bit of work, and a swap meet is a lot different than an actual show.

If train shows (haven't been to one yet) are anything like sci-fi conventions, I think I would love the small ones.

Elizabeth Allen

Elizabeth Allen came up from California down from Seattle to show off a lot of SP modeling, although the entire table was not her: 992_crop.jpg

Not sure on the spelling of the last name here, but he has some very nice Oregon California & Eastern And Milwaukie Road equipment here:

Bruce Barney/Rod Loder/Chris Clune

I'm pretty sure the log trucks are Bruce Barney's, and I believe they were for sale. Although I note that I took a photo of Craig Townsend in the middle of taking the photos of the trucks, so they may be his, or built by him, or he had some of the other stuff on the table.

031_crop.jpg These trucks (most of them) were 3D printed by Bruce Barney, and they belong to Rod Loder now:

@ Jeff

I only brought the large scale stuff. Everything else on the table was Bruce's. I showed up a mere 15 minutes after the official opening and there was very little room left so I had to squeeze in next to Bruce. Not a bad problem to have.

Dave Hussey/Cannon & Co.

Since these modelers are his firmest custoemer base, it's no surprise to see Dave Hussey of Cannon & Co. with a fine display here:

Jim Reardon

Jim Reardon, MMR, had a couple of very nice models on display. The locomotive photo is slightly overexposed to bring out the details:

I think I saw this Rio Grande Southern caboose at the NMRA convention a couple years back. Amazing details:052_crop.jpg

O Scale & Dunstan Fandel

Unfortunately I did not get a name to go with this impressive O scale equipment:

053_crop.jpg

Next to the display was Dunstan Fandel with an incredible assortment of unusual rolling stock he has created/kitbashed, most of it with 3D printing:

055_crop.jpg

Dunstan's latest projects have included 1/24-1/25 scale vehicles, some of which are kitbashed with 3D parts, and some of which are mostly if not all 3D printed parts. His latest project is the 1/24th scale Kenworth 963 seen in the lower right corner - the 3D printed (and then resin cast) tires are for that, and you can see  the 3D CAD drawings for the suspension next to them:

More displays and models -

Ed Austin (a name frequently seen in association with Tom Dill's on the covers of excellent railroad resource books) was manning the a booth featured the Hill lines - the Northern Pacific Historical Society, GN, and SP&S:

057_crop.jpg

Jason Hill of Owl Mountain Models had a nice display, and I brought home one of his SP F-40-10,12 class flatcar kits with me to build. It comes with 8 pages of instructions and documentation:

Great models! Sorry I missed it.

This occurred about 24 hours before I started to think "Dang, I need to get my long-delayed model train layout built, etc. etc."  How can I find out about future Bridgetown RPM events/meetings, etc.  I live in NE PDX.

Are they for sale?

Are the models on display for sale?  I’ve never been to a RPM show.

Sales...

Most of the models are simply on display. Some, like the Cannon & Co. and Owl Mountain Models kits and some other company's detail parts, are for sale. We were selling Make it Run Like a Dream books and some videos.

But mostly it's a big and beautiful show & tell.

Socializing

A lot of the RPM'ers know each other, naturally, and they all like to talk about their, and others modeling:

Here Heather Clark, Greg Martin, and David Compton are discussing something:

Pete Johnson and Dave... (I can't make out the last name)

Aaron Heine:

He also brought some models:
