I had originally planned on using a modified Walthers Union Station kit for the Elizabeth City (Tulsa) station that is located at the top of the center peninsula. The space allocated for that station was incorporated into the original track alignment which as been in place for over a year.  However, since this area loosely reprints Tulsa, OK, I really wanted to have something that resembled that unique station.

The towers that the station had seemed to be the most daunting part of the station so they had to be done first to determine if it could be done at all. I have a number of pictures of the Tulsa Union Depot so I broke the tower down into some basic geometric shapes and put them together in my 3D printer’s design software. This is one of the pictures of the station along with the tower design.

Over the last couple of weeks the rest of the station’s upper level was 3D printed (and prime painted) as was shown in the YouTube video above.  The upper level was done first in order to make sure that it would fit in the new larger allocated space. The lower section is now being designed.  The change of station buildings will cause a number of track alignment changes as discussed in the video.

Update on Union Station area - I’ve also decided on the basic design and materials to be used for the access hatch in the Union Station engine facility (will be constructed in the near future). A bridge from the concrete retaining wall (that is along the wall behind the Union Station & REA Express area) will link to the access hatch cover where there will be buildings to include the Western Auto building.

More to come in the future…so stay tuned.
