I need to scratch build a Cyclone type Dust Collector for the storage bin for the Feed Mill I am building. I have looked at all of those on the various mfg's web sites but none of will work for te size I need. Anybody got any suggestions?

Dust Collector

Phillip - The scale is HO and it wants to be the same as the one shown in attached picture. The one in the picture is from the Walthers Planing Mill and Shed kit12627_01.JPG

Try the cake decorating section at Michaels

I went to the cake decorating section at a Michael's craft store and found all kinds of conical tips in various sizes. From there, you can make most any cyclone dust collector you need. Also check other scales, like N or O. Rix does a roof vents set that includes a cyclone dust collector. Rusty Stumps has some, and there's also the Walthers Industrial dust collectors set. Finally, there's also the Walthers Wood chip truck loader.

Cyclone

Yes I have already looked at these, since I have 6 complete kits, but they are I feel to small for the storage bin. But maybe could set it up using two of them. I did just a possible solution I contacted Walthers to see if I could buy just this set of parts. They are going to check and let me know. I really don't want to buy the full kit - just to expensive just for the cyclone. But good thought. Thanks

Cyclone Dust Collector

Thanks Joe for the Michael's idea hadn't thought of them. I will check them out. Do have the Rix kit but it is really way to big.

I used Lego parts for rooftop

I used Lego parts for rooftop fans and ventilators on my N scale layout, may be a bit too small for HO...

...don't forget Plastruct.

Don't forget Plastruct. They have all sorts of cones, pipes, sheet stock, etc. If you can't find something there that is directly suitable, they have the materials to make what you need.

....and don't forget the Dollar Stores, they are great sources as well.
