I'm considering either the DCS210 or DCS240. I like the built in USB port on the 240, but don't need the option of running 400 locomotives. Is it worth buying everything seperate just to get the 240? It doesn't come in a starter set. The best price I've found online is $528 for the DCS210 radio system, if I buy the DCS240, DT500D, Radio pannel and power supply it will be $675.

Would you spend the extra $147 to get the 240???

If all you don't have in the DCS210 is the USB -

A LocoBuffer USB is only about $60 from RR-CirKits: http://www.rr-cirkits.com/description/index.html That would leave you with about $80 for something else.

PR3 Xtra

The advantage of the PR3 is that you can download firmware updates to the throttles and the new cmd stations... And they are available for $60-80 with free shipping on the Internet. Also, the DCS210 is currently available only in a starter set.

I would say spend the extra and get the 240 from what I have found it is well worth the money .
