HO Scale Bachmann Shay truck assemblies in stock with metal gears Locos and rolling stock

FYI loggers- Not sure how long they've been available but Bachmann has the complete Shay truck assemblies back in stock, and they are equipped with metal gears instead of the old plastic splitters.

Rather pricey at $32.00 a truck but competive with the no longer available metal gears from NWSL. (edited as NWSL are in stock) 

I wonder if another run of the Shay is in the plans?

NWSL no longer available ?

Are these the gears that are no longer available from NWSL or was there a different kit at one time ? The NWSL store has these as order-able.

It sounds good but that is about $100 an engine not cheap when you consider that you already paid for the engine.

NWSL Gears

I remember a couple months ago seeing a bulletin at the NWSL website indicating that they were putting the gears back into production, and were working out a couple production problems.  It seems that they are once again available.  I just went to the website and went through the order process just fine.  The price was $34.95 for a set of six gears (enough for a 3-truck Shay), plus shipping.

I already have a new replacement set of Bachmann trucks, but they still have plastic gears and I've never installed them.  I decided to just bite the bullet and get these gears and be done with it!

Now if only Bachmann or NWSL would make truck bolster parts

to complement the gears...  Just sayin'

Since we are on (off) the subject ...

It's not the gears that give me problems (yet) but the universal and the keepers that hold the drive line against the geared wheels. This seems to be a design flaw that causes the gears to separate and lose traction. Maybe someone here has a replacement suggestion?
