The first two shots are of a OMI brass model, and the last, a TLT plastic model that doesn't have operating back-up lights:

Life Like Proto 2000

Installed a NCE Light it decoder.  LEDs used for the end marker lights.  For the interior I used the light that is attached to the decoder.  I set the interior light to be very dim.

Portland & Yamhill's #50

n%20Yard.jpg

The conductor is working on some paperwork while the P&Y's newest loco, recently converted to Oil (and Tsunami2), backs down the yard. (Bachmann DC 2-6-0 Mogul. Darn you, Trainworld.)

I modified a Bachmann caboose to resemble some D&RGW prototypes. Added Tomar markers and an interior. Shade for lamp over desk cut from top of from pushpin, painted with Tamiya Clear Green.

A dreary morning in the PNW

Thanks, Dee.

The yard 0-5-0 has turned the caboose for today's work. Conductor Rob is checking his list. Or having a cup of coffee. Hard to tell from this angle.

Ken,  Very nice and looks

Ken,

Very nice and looks cozy in that caboose.

I also like how the light from the marker shows the detail of the boards.

Cheers.

Marker lights in N scale....

Does anyone make lantern castings for N scale marker lights? Failing that, what are the full-scale dimensions of marker lights like those shown above? Thinking I might be able to use square acrylic rod in an appropriate size and fiber optics to create a working marker light... at least one that would stand up to the 3 foot rule.

You might toss that quest at Walt, editor of N Scale mag. He answers emails.

I'm having memory flashes of having seen some N scale photos of cabooses with lite markers.

Somewhere deep in the Kicking Horse canyon…

in the fall of 1968, CP GP7 8487 has lone Van CP 430277 in tow, pulling off helper duty and making the run back to Golden for the night to let the crew sleep and to get a repair done on the Van’s brakes.
