Awesome work everyone last week!  Time to start of this week's photo thread!

As always, we get as much out of your in-process photos as we do the highly polished "all done" shots!

I think... it could be a rear DPU. I know my programming track is is facing east though.

Suburban House

Here are a couple of photos from my most recent diorama.

Corner.jpg

Cops are attending the scene... Not really sure what the disturbance is but from the look of the next photo with the lady sitting on the step it doesn't look too serious!

e%202(1).jpg

To give you an overall idea of the size of the diorama here is a shot from further back.

Overall.jpg

I often take my dioramas on road trips to get photos. This location is usually quite good, it's at the end of a dead end road so there's usually no traffic although on this day the farmer who owns the property came to investigate what I was up to!

He seemed pretty curious and impressed with the model.

I hope you enjoy the images

Great pics so far

Last WPF I posted a sketch of my harbour warehouse, some progress has been made.

mg_37351.jpg

The wall parts have been cut... and assembled,

mg_37361.jpg

The interior beams and trusses are just loosely sitting there at the moment, but eventually they will make for some neat photos through the doors and windows.

This one is just a quick hand held pic

Old VW

We were talking about old Vdubs at work so I made this photo.  I think the bus is an old Wiking model I lowered and painted.

Nice little scene you have produced Paul, love the BN motive power with the rose on the hoppers! You have taken me back to my teens and twenties as we used to see that same exact setup roll through here dai;y. The rose on the Pacific Gas and Electric rental gons represents the Rosebud mine in Colstrip, MT, unfortunately it closed  back in the early 2000's....

Jeff, actually the cars with the rose are Portland General Electric hauling coal to the power plant at Boardman, OR.  I think the rose is because Portland, OR, is the "Rose City".

Rick, that is a lot of buses.  Look at all those targets for troubled kids!

@ Paul

I stand corrected Paul, someone had told me that and it sounded legit. I looked it up on the interweb and boy howdy was I misinformed. Thanks for the correction Paul, it is kind of a neat coincidence though....I still like the photo!

Tony and Luke

Tony...your addition of people have really added to the believability of your scenes. Sometimes they will detract for the " authenticity " of a photo, but you have placed them so accurately that they look very natural. AND I really like your attention to detail.

Luke...incredibly well done scene ! Your house is beautiful, and the landscaping and trees are excellent. What really drew my eye however, are those incredible hedges !!! They are perfect ! I am hoping you will share with us how you made those.

It seems we're doing a "houses and people" series this week.

CBRW 2294 GP9u

Finished this one a month or so back.  CBRW (Columbia Basin Railway) has a great mix of power, including two ex-ATSF GP9u's that still wear most of the original paint.  I modeled #2294 based on how it appeared between 2013 and 2015.  The base model was an Athearn Genesis GP7u that was extensively reworked into something that was correct for the prototype.  Weathering was mostly acrylics with some oils and powders used in certain areas.

Additional pictures and explanation can be found here:  http://theweatheringshop.com/kevincbrw.html.

Thanks for looking,

Kevin

PGE - Portland General Electric

The reason that people think they are Pacific Gas & Electric is because when the manufacturer first announced them, that's what they announced them as.

I send them a couple of corrections.... which eventually worked.

GP7u

Kevin, words escape me on your GP7u.  If I had to bet money, I would have been fairly confident betting that those were all prototype photos.  I don't see a single giveaway that we're looking at models.  Amazing work!

Willoughby, Arkansas Grain Elevator

Many of the old corrugated metal elevators have been torn down over the years and replaced with newer concrete structures.  Some, like the one seen in Willoughby here, still stand today with additional structures added-on for increased aggregate storage and modern operations.

Originally built in 1948, the Willoughby elevator has seen it's share of changes.  The most recent being the addition of two large bins and conveyor.  Less than a year old, the new structures are a sharp contrast to the old weathered veteran. IMG_1540.JPG IMG_1534.JPG
