Update photos of the "Sam Angrick Co." scratch built structure. in the Ashland Ind. Dist. on my HO scale CNW - Peninsula Div. RR. Also it is shown in it's location.

Window & Brick Wall insert sub assembly. I air brushed the window glazing with dull coat to prevent seeing into the empty building.02620(1).JPG

Panel inserts installed, truck side12623(1).JPG

Track side & truck dock.12624(1).JPG

Dock roof, the short one is for the end where the truck dock is located and the longer one will be installed on the track where the open doors are.P3312625.JPG

Build is shown in it's location in Ashland Ind. Dist.P4022626.JPG

The next update will show the weathering, signage, and detailing etc.I will probably put a minimally detailed interior behind the open freight doors. Maybe some interior lighting (which is not my forte')

That's a good looking structure! Is it all scratch-built styrene?

I especially like the cornice.

nice scratch building effort

Thanks for sharing your photos of your building. High praises from someone who hasn't quite got the knack of scratch building with styrene. I can do it with wood, but have some mental block about plastic. Great looking building!

Mortar technique?

Richard,

What technique do you use for your brick mortar?

Thanks.

Mortar technique

To badams -

If you go back to my original blog post, I have shown a picture of the Spackling material I use for mortar joints. I just dip my finger into the container and get a little on my finger and then wipe it all over the surface, let it dry for maybe 5 mins. and then with a damp cloth I just wipe (at maybe a 45 deg, angle) the excess off. Let it dry for few hours and then you can air brush it with dull coat, with no bad effects to the mortar. Hope this helps. Here again is the picture of the material I use.32616(1).JPG
