I read that Ed Reutling passed away yesterday. Those that knew him know what we have lost. For those that didn't know him Ed was a prolific modeler and scratch builder and a willing teacher to anyone who asked for his assistance. Ed was scratch building O scale models to get what he wanted in the days before Atlas O and the other RTR stuff. If Ed wanted something he'd spend a few days cutting, gluing, painting, etc. then post a photo of the finished product. If anyone else wanted one Ed would mold up some copies and send them to you for a few bucks. I always waited in anticipation for those AC&F parcels so I could assemble them and send Ed a photo, Ed's enthusiasm was infectious and inspired many of us to do better work or think about bigger goals. A teacher by profession and a teacher by nature Ed will be greatly missed..DaveB

Sad to hear of Ed Reutling's passing

I remember back in the day when there was an O scale  weekend meet in the Marlboro Mass. High School I looked forward to seeing Ed and his switching module with a quarry theme, lots of model stone and the 44 tonner in duty.

He was very talented and a joy to talk to. I was motivated to start in O scale by a few choice modelers. Ed was monumental in  making whatever topic clear. Ed had a number of YouTube entries under Rueutlings channel  I believe. They were all about his quality work on his modular pike. I was sad to see him liquidate his layout and equipment, he said he was just getting out of it. Yes, Ed was quite a modeller, teacher, and a hell of a no-nonsense kind of guy. I am sad to learn of his passing. I am sure all his signals are green.
