I tried to copy a reduced size picture from my computer to my web post reply to the topic about support for an upper deck. The picture was there when I edited the post but disappeared when I went to another web site and then came back to see my post. The picture was gone and replaced by a question mark in a small blue rectangle (Safari on an iMac). I was looking around for a how to do it section on the website. Maybe I missed it (home sick with the flu right now and my head does feel filled with cotton a little right now).

I thought max width...

...was 800.  Am I wrong?

750

I personally like 750. Here is a comparison:

750px:

0%289%29.JPG

800px:

0%289%29.JPG

900px:

0%289%29.JPG

I'm always sad when I see a photo hanging off the right edge of the display area.

The actual, largest, visible area of the photos is 792px wide. Everything after that is lost on the right.
At 750px the image is nearly centered in the forum display area.

Whoops--I was on the right track

Thanks for the pointers. I actually started on the right track but somehow got messed up. Must be the combination of the flu and medicine which makes me drowsy. Thanks.

How to post diagrams from Excel?

I can't get diagrams from Excel or Word to load into a post. Tried converting .xls and .doc to other formats available in those programs, and still can't upload to server.

Is there a way to get the diagrams loaded?

Related question: what file formats other than .jpg will the server accept?

Thank you,

DrJolS

Screen shot

Take a screen shot of the diagram (on windows 7, look at the snipping tool) save the screen shot as an image and upload the normal way.

It worked.

Thank you, BillB. It worked like a charm, once in a row.

Now I'll probably be more dangerous posting on this site.

I'm still wondering - is .jpg the only image format that can be posted?

You can only post images on comments

You can only post images on comment posts. If you want to post a spreadsheet, doc file, or PDF file as an attachment, you need to start a new thread and attach it to the main opening post. The lead post that starts a thread can have many different file types as attachments.
