Progress on my layout rebuild continues. I have now managed to get the turn table in and operational after multiple adjustments to the power pickups.

It was a bit more of a problem to get the turntable together and tuned such that I did not loose power as you rotate. After an hour of fiddling around I got it to work well. I can only blame myself for the glue I got on one of the power bushings that caused an issue. However, how the turntable is put together with the gear washer and bushings means it needs to go on "square" which is not easy to do if you assemble it the way the instructions indicate. But that is all a different topic.

The turntable engine facility is on a DCC district booster, and I have wired each track around the turntable with a long enough wire that I can use some toggles and turn each track on and off.

I still have to put some more tracks in, but I got tired of doing electrical work and decided to work on the mine structures.

I picked up a couple of Pike Stuff small engine houses. One to drop ore at, one to pick concentrate at. Again I am not trying to focus on a big industrial complex so small is good.

This is what I have come up with. The left building is for ore in, the right building is for concentrate out. One car at a time. I also made a couple of silos out of cardboard tubes wrapped with  0.01 inch styrene. A small conveyor system and an industry is formed. In this shot the silos are just sitting on the the wood platform allowing some paint to dry. I have to assemble it all such that I can take it to the workbench to put a lot of details and ground textures later.

A view from the side. I was making sure the conveyor was not too low. Using my gauge car I made sure all was well. The track is part of my inside loop, and although it is not main line, I want to be able to use it for a continuous run for when or if people visit and would like to see the trains run.

That is all for now.

Nice stuff

Are you going to have an above ground conveyor from the ore dump to the silos or is it underground to the silos?

Conveyor

The brick box on the left would be where the ore goes up to the bins and across on the exiting conveyor. I am not planning any further conveyors.

Silos

Tim - What kind of glue did you use to hold the styrene around the cardboard tubes, and especially at the seam?

Did you use some sort of clamps to hold the seam tight while drying?

Silos

The styrene is overlapped on the end by 1/4 inch. Just used a regular glue for styrene and then a couple of clamps while it dried. I could slip the styrene off if I wanted but it would be too flimsy with such a thin styrene.
