Unfortunately, a number of users (and potential users) of A-Track have reported a couple of problems with Version 4.3 of the program, as released last November. Neither of these annoying problems affects the main functions of A-Track (helping you use your NCE DCC system), and they can be fixed fairly easily, as detailed in the following workarounds.

Problem when attempting to run the Getting Started Tutorial

When some users try to run the Getting Started Tutorial, after clicking on Next, all they see is the message “Sorry ! – You will need to Restart the Tutorial . . . “.

This is because the required demonstration Item List has not been copied correctly to the working folder.

When you start the Tutorial for the first time, A-Track creates a subfolder named A-Track Item Lists in your main My Documents (or Documents) folder. The demonstration Item List (AT-Tutorial-Demo-43.itl) should then be copied from the installation folder C:\Program Files\A-Track\Example_Item_Lists (or C:\Program Files (X86)\A-Track\Example_Item_Lists on a 64-bit system) to the A-Track Item Lists subfolder. On some computers, this copy fails, leaving the subfolder empty - and causing the Tutorial to halt with the error message.

To fix the problem, first check that the A-Track Item Lists subfolder exists in you’re my Documents or Documents folder (or create it there if it does not) then, if the subfolder does not contain the AT-Tutorial-Demo43.itl file, copy the file manually from the installation folder. You should then be able to re-start A-Track and proceed with the Start-Up Tutorial.

Problem when attempting to Register or access Support from A-Track

Some users have reported  that, when they try to use the Register or Support options on the Help menu, an error is generated which closes A-Track.

This occurs when no NCE DCC system has ever been connected to A-Track on the PC running the program. Once A-Track has established a connection to an NCE DCC system (Power Cab or Power Pro) the problem will not happen again.

Please accept my apologies for letting these program bugs slip through the net. Fixes for both problems have been identified and are being tested. These will be incorporated in a new A-Track release in the near future.
