Opera's getting out there on the fringe

Opera's a pretty fringe browser - have you tried Safari? It works well ... Google Chrome works okay to, except it doesn't like the my account password if you try to update it.

Hummm, Opera Browser issues?

What version of Opera are you using? I am using v9.64 without any problems.

Opera 9.51

I'm running Opera 9.51 and it's fine on MRH, too.  I run into the very odd website which won't work properly, but I think that's usually sloppy programming on the webmaster's part, which was only tested on IE.

Opera may not be popular, but that's just the loss of those not using it, IMO.  The mouse gestures for navigation are so slick...

Fringe

While I have to admit I've only used Opera to explore it's accessibility capabilities for clients, from this BBC article, it's only "fringe"(ish) in the US.

Food for thought.

I'm using 9.51 on my lap top

I'm using 9.51 on my lap top and have had no trouble. Go to  http://www.MajorGeeks.com and find the Oprea updates. which I need to do also! and upload the latest patch and upgrade to 9.6 or better. My son keeps telling me the newest verson is there and I need to get it for a few perks I don't have yet.

It's Opera 10. No worries

It's Opera 10. No worries though, I think I'll pass on Opera. It was awesome for a few hours, then it crashed loading this page: http://rr.blockchoice.com Opera is to methodical for me anyways, its one at a time object loading thing, takes forever on some of the sites I visit.

A bit off topic

I was wondering what reliability issues there are with Firefox 3?  I'm using 3.0.14 and have not noticed any problems to date.

I have FF 3.5, and it's slow

I have FF 3.5, and it's slow loading when initially opened, and cannot handle graphic intense pages, nor multiple tabs, as well as the older versions. Too much fluff in my mind. As I said though, I'm back in FF, as I was not satisfied with Opera.

Actually I just completely removed Opera

Actually I just completely removed Opera and went back to FF3. This morning and late last night the Opera browser crashed every time I tried to log onto MRH and a few other sites. I don't use the lap top often for browsing the net but I have been using it for the past few days and then last night and this morning it just kept giving error after error so I removed it and all it's perks and FF3 has saved the day besides the few problems you get with FF is not really a constant thing in fact I don't really have any problems with FF so until Opera finally can balance out their programing I'll just use FF and as far as IE I wouldn't let my worst enemy use that Virus magnet as most 10 year old kids can hack IE they should change the name of IE to Greek horse trader for all the Trojen Horses riding that program.

I have IE

I have IE on my computer only because the Hospital that my wife works for has their web site set up so that it is IE exclusively and company email accoutns cannot be accessed from any other browser.  I use FF just about exclusively.

Microsoft Outlook and Outlook

Microsoft Outlook and Outlook Express work with both systems it doesn't matter what browser you use. I have yahoo e-mail, Comcast E-mail, Microsoft Outlook e-mail[comes with IE) but I don't use IE and I use Outlook Express for most of my E-Mail. All you need do is have separate E-Mail address for each account and what browser you use doesn't have too much to do with what E-mail you use at least from my experience. I use FF on my main Computer and I have 15 different E-Mail accounts on the above mentioned and 4 are Microsoft Outlook but I don't use IE ever.

really going off topic here

Wow, we're really moving off topic here, but FYI Dan, if you have a Microsoft Exchange account, the web based version only has full functionality on IE.

But you're right, you can setup Outlook to access the Exchange server directly with no browswer involved.

FWIW, as IE is part of the windowz operating system, and required for updates,  I recommend to users to not use it for regular browsing. If IIE gets corrupted or hacked, the whole recovery process gets just that much more difficult.

Ditto for Safari on the Mac, but fortunatley we're not seeing (yet) the same level of nastiness on the web.
