Wow.

That's a lot of layout.  I sometimes get jealous when I see nice big rooms for layouts but then I think about how I have a hard time getting things done on my present layout and how it feels like I'll never get it anywhere near completion.  Looking forward to more progress.

Neat space! Mine is long and narrow at 7.5'x27'. But we do what we can with what we've got, eh? Looking forward to seeing more of your progress. Where are you located? John Colley, Port Townsend, WA

Layout Construction Pt 1

Thanks to all. Look at the second post in my blog to see the rest of the construction pictures. The layout room is 29' x 32' with a 7' x 13' extension for the Ashland, WI yard. Just recently I have annexed an additional space in my utility area for adding a off line staging yard. You gotta get space where ever you can. Oh by the way I have a real understanding and supportive wife which helps.

John - I am located in White Lake, MI which is NW of Detroit.

Keep up with blog to see pictures of the layout as it is now after about 10 years. The layout is about 75% sceniced and 100% fully operational. We operate here the second Tuesday of every month.

*SIGH*

I'll echo the jealousy comments of the others on the space you have for your layout Richard. Looks like you ware doing a great job of building a good benchwork foundation for the layout.

Love the lack of legs because

Love the lack of legs because of the angled brackets on the far wall. Nothing is worse than major earthquakes on the layout when someone's size 11 shoes hit a support.

Looks Impressive!

The construction phase is fun since the progress seems so fast, looks like a terrific layout!

Great Example of Mansoite Use

They make clips that attach to suspended ceiling that will hold track lighting. Can send pictures if are interested. Looks like going to be great layout.

Why aren't you on the water?

Beautiful White Lake has always been one of my favorites for perch and bass.

A storm sunk my bass boat one evening while it was tied up at the White Lake Hotel.  It was as hard getting it on the trailer as it is to straighten out a massive derailment in N gauge.
