bear creek

Well, it's finally happened. After *lots* of deliberation, thought, and procrastination it appears the Bear Creek and South Jackson now has an 'official' paint scheme (at least for its 1st generation Alco diesels).

Many thanks to Joe Brugger for his advice and painting skills.

A HUGE improvement of over the previous, battleship gray paint scheme.

Show us your paint scheme!

Maybe I've got paint on the brain (or what's left of it). If you've got a free or proto lanced paint scheme, I double-dog-dare you to show us what you've got! C'mon folks, I know I'm not the only one...

Cheers,

Hey

Charlie, are you on a 1and1.com server? No domain name for your website yet? I to have an s[...].onlinehome.us domain, but never use it, in favor of my plethora of domains and subdomains.

Domaines

You can get to the main page of my site at http://www.bcsjrr.combut not being the pro web-hacker that Joe F is I gave up figuring out how to make every page accessible relative to that. I suppose there's some kind of trick. 1&1 has otherwise been fine for me, cheap, relatively fast, and minimal down-time.

I actually drop each site

I actually drop each site into its own individual folder on my web space. Then I direct the domain to the folder containing that website. I'm unsure why yours keeps resetting back to the onlinehome.us address. Lemme play around with mine and see what I can get.

Bare Crick paint scheme

Pretty nifty, Charlie.  Were the yellow hood stripes masked on or made with decals?  If decals, what kind?

The ends got painted

The ends got painted Erie/Lackawanna (PolyScale) yellow then Joe B. applied some Western Pacific black chevrons

http://www.microscale.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=87-1077&Category_Code=WP&Product_Count=25

The yellow stripes along the top edges of the hood were shot with E/L yellow, then masked and the hood was sprayed with the dark gray (hard to make it work in the other order!).

The ends got painted

The hood stripes are masked with Chartpak tape. Some stationery and art stores still have stocks.

The sill stripes are Microscale 91106 3" yellow. By the time it gets the matte sealer coat and a little bit of road dust, it's a very close match to E-L yellow.

The RS1 has a lot of hinges etc. up where the stripes are on the hood and it needed some touching up. The RS2 is smoother in this area and I expect those to come out better.

Paint Shop Foreman

Joe B. is the Paint Shop Foreman for the Bear Creek and South Jackson and becoming a local VIP. He's currently working on a pair of RS-2 units at his 32nd Ave Shopts.

Railroad management (and the trackside citizenry are looking forward to having fewer battleship gray locos running around on the tracks (a local joke is to call the railroad the Bare Creek on account of the paint jobs (or rather the lack thereof) of the BCSJ diesel fleet).

How do the RSC2 motors and

How do the RSC2 motors and the S2 look with the first three? Cuz I know you're dying to find out . . .

After the 40 was done (the RS1), 32nd Ave. Shops went to paint and masking on the sills instead of decal striping. Too hard to unroll that 50' and keep it straight. The S2, a switcher, got a modified scheme for visibility in the yards.

BCSJ diesel fleet

Mr. Brugger, your request for photography has be aproved.

All the BC&SJ diesels painted in the bumble-bee scheme - road diesels on the Baynes Valley trestle, switcher on the Deschutes branchline. The road units are 69 (RSC-2), 40 (RS-1), 70 (RS-2), 71 (RS-2), 68 (RSC-2). The switcher is 77 (S1)

The two newly painted RSC-2s passing Deschutes Jct. entering Mill Bend (going through the as yet incomplete scenery in the area - yes, Hillmovers Construction has been working in the area and its expected it'll be complete in another month (or so).

For those of you who don't know, Joe Brugger has spent much time in his 32nd Ave shops sniffing paint fumes while changing the Bear Creek diesel fleet from batleship gray to something more photogenic.

Thanks Joe,

Charlie
