Hi,

to me it looks as if the pictures in the getting real column are a bit messed up. A lot of the photos repeat but have different captions. If I got it correctly : 2 to 13 are used twice.

Please try the comment and like links again. The MRH website was having problems earlier, so try the comment / like buttons now. They're working fine for us.

Yes, we messed up the Getting Real photos badly. Corrected issue coming out shortly ...

I look forward to the arrival of RE every month.  One very minor point - there are occasionally pairs of pages that, in a print edition, would open facing each other.  In the Adaptive version, they don't line up that way.  It diminishes what would otherwise be an outstanding experience.   Examples:  page 51 and 52 would look great back-to-back, as would 133/134, 161/162, 167/168 (this is a track plan) - you get the idea.

This is what the adaptive edition looks like for us on a Windows PC in Adobe Reader ...

We have told Adobe Reader to show two pages facing. What device type and PDF reader are you using and what are you seeing? Can you post a screen grab?

Apologies for providing too little information.  I'm viewing via Preview 11.0 on a Mac (macOS Monterey 12.1).  I've tinkered with Preview's Preferences, but nothing seems to change the single page initial view and then everything is thrown off by a page.  Here's my screen shot of that lovely old industrial building.

January 2022 RE issue still not on my Sendowl page.  All the old issues are there.  No email notice like I usually get.

Continuing MacOS Preview app:

The Adaptive issue has the page numbers starting with odd numbered pages on the left and even numbered pages on the right. The Wide issue has the pages in standard publishing convention of even numbered pages on the left and odd numbered pages on the right.

This has been a problem since the switch to the Adaptive/Wide publication.

That’s why we went with the wide as well. Wide is best for the Mac preview app. Set it to single page view with wide and you should be all set.

Either that or download the free Adobe Reader app and use that with the Adaptive version on a Mac. The Adobe Reader app will allow changing the first page to stand alone or be two up with page 2. Two up with page two is what you want with your PDF reader when using the adaptive version. Unfortunately, the Mac preview has no option to allow page 1 to show across from page 2.

Your other option if you have a tool like Adobe DC that lets you edit PDFs is to just delete page 2 in the PDF.

Check it now. We did indeed miss adding 2022 to that particular kind of sub. Lots of new moving parts with this first issue release involving the new forum, sorry!

Your subscription has expired and when we check your email account with us, you flagged one of our emails as spam, so you didn't get a renewal notice. Once you mark any of our emails as spam, you're effectively cut off from getting emails from us.

Since we also send an occasional ad email, don't mark those as spam, delete them. Otherwise, you mark an email from us as spam and that's it, no more emails from us, ever, for anything. Bummer, I know, but the authorities will levy a firm thousands of dollars in fines for sending an email to someone who has flagged one of your emails as spam.

Anyhow, I sent you a private forum message with a renewal link in it.
P.S. We can reinstate you one time to start receiving emails again if you let us know you now understand not to flag any emails from us as spam. If we reinstate you and you flag another email from us as spam, then that's it. You get put on our permanent NEVER EMAIL AGAIN EVER list.

Spammers and spam totally sucks -- all the spam filters and the "flagging an email as spam" rules make it virtually impossible to do business by email reliably. Ã°Å¸â€˜Å½

Absolutely. I have had nothing but trouble with spam/junk filters. They are on Google mail and on my Thunderbird server. And trying to catch illegitimate mail is getting to be a "crap shoot". The spam folder repeatedly shows up good or legitimate email. And the junk folder catches different stuff. I never knew why there's some difference between junk and spam. I can easily delete ALL junk, because I've not found any good junk. (that's impossible?). But spam is different, I can catch 50 or more spam and there's always a few good emails caught that have to be selected as "not spam". So, I hope my experience here can help some. Getting used to the proper way to delete and/or code as junk or spam is critical.

Mac Preview App display challenge - thank you Joe and others for info and recommendations.  Mac Preview shows 4 pages of the Wide version!?!  The solution for me was to use FoxIt PDF Reader.    The layout is as planned and I can read it.

Gene, just do ⌘-2 when the PDF is open in Preview to get back to just a two page spread when using Wide. Easy.

Please ignore this. I was using an old download link. I’ve bookmarked the correct link. Thanks.

Hi  Joe.

I went to download the January 2022 RE today. When I opened the Sendowl download page, the latest issue wasn’t there. Wondering whether perhaps my subscription had run out (I don’t think it has), I wanted to check. Where do I do that now that there’s no login on the MRH website? Thanks.

I've been having the same problem.  January isn't on my page yet.  My subscription is good until October 2022 and I'm pretty sure I haven't flagged an email as spam. I had a similar problem last month and I eventually got the email notice and access to the new issue after I sent in a support request.  It's odd.

Paul, did you use the link from last months email you received after contacting support? That link stays valid for the duration of your subscription only, once you renew it changes. I'm on my 4th renewal and this 4th sendowl link.

I can't wait for downloading Running Extra to be integrated behind this forum login so we can get rid of sendowl and the need for their subscription specific random download URLs.
