WOW!!!!! What a great issue!!!

A BIG Thank you folks for an outstanding issue of MRH!!! I have skimmed through it, and there is an article on every subject I have been working on! One has given me inspiration to share my etched signal towers, masts, and the way to make them, without breaking your wallet.

I will commence to making pictures, and video, and also share the exposure masks I made for all to use. If it sounds interesting enough, I can even show how I designed them, using Photoshop 5.5. I can help with getting the old version, as it is no longer for sale or supported, but, I will help you. Contact me offline to find out. It is FREE, so no worries there. In any case, I have the masks, and will gladly email them to you, in a PDFs file. They are HO scale, but, I can make them pretty much any other scale if there is an interest for them. These are all brass. I will include the type of LED's, and the part number for you to order. I am away from my computer, but, I will follow up this post with some photo's in a couple of hours, so you can see the results of the etching, and the raw brass signal masts's when done.  I have target style, newer type "D", and will soon have the 3 light Pennsylvania style , and the other types as the months go by, if there is enough interest.

Again, these are DIY, and it does not take a masters in ANYTHING, to make them. If you can solder a little bit, then you can do these.

I haven't figured an exact cost, but, compared to buying them assembled, it is pennies on the dollar. I am sure that alone may inspire some to try it, and enjoy the results. Etching them at home is easy, and not hazardous, as long as you follow the simple procedure when doing them. The etching acid is available inexpensively, at any garden store, or center, Lowes, Home Depot. A gallon will last you a long time!

I look forward to helping anyone who is interested, and will have Mr. Fugate compile an article to publish sometime in the future, so all can read, and share! I can even provide a simple driver setup, you can make yourself, to drive the LED's.

Let me know what you think! If there is enough interest, I will kick off on my blog, this week, and give you step by step instructions.

Many Blessings...

Taz...
