Atlas Website Down?

Not a problem with the MRH issue per se, but I have been unable to connect to the Atlas website (“shop.atlasrr.com”) for several weeks now, and the links in MRH give me the same result.  I’ve tried from two different devices with no luck: Safari says “too many redirects occurred” and IE says “cannot open the page”.  And, of course, since I can’t open their website I can’t contact them to see if the problem is at their end....

Has anyone else experienced the same issue?

Found it

I tried emptying cache, etc, with no change (although apparently the only way to empty the cache in Safari (at least on an iPad) ifs to delete ALL website data — including passwords, preferences, etc), which I wasn’t willing to do.

However, I do have pop-ups blockade on both machines, and when I turned that off it worked.

Thanks for your help!

Pop-ups

There are too many sites that want you to allow them to do whatever they want on your device, including sending you all manner of advertisements, etc.  I never allow this and if it blocks me from a site, then I don’t use their site.  You never get that kind of shoddy treatment from MRH or other reputable sites, so there are good ones out there.  Usually it’s the fault of their site developer, not the firm itself.  I’d think twice before allowing pop-ups.

Oh yes,

I turned the blocker back on once I’d visited the site!

Empty Caches in Safari

Just enable the Develop menu. Safari Prefs-> Advanced. Bottom of window check the "Show Develop menu in menu bar". I added a keyboard shortcut to mine: option-command-T. System Prefs-> Keyboard-> Shortcuts; App Shortcuts; Safari... click the "+" button below the list of apps and enter a key combo of your choice. BTW, I think option-command-E is already in use.

Always pays to investigate every single menu in every app, especially after updating it. Otherwise, you'll never know what's possible.

Safari in an iPad

Thanks, but I use Safari on an iPad Pro, and there’s no “develop” menu item or tab on the Safari page accessed from the Settings app, and no way to adjust settings within Safari itself.

Looking for Plans for 4' x 8' table for HO model Track Layout

Just got 3 totes full of track, locomotives, and cars that will fit nicely on a 4' x 8' table layout. Except that I have no idea how to build such a table. Can someone point me to where I could find plans to build something simple, please? I have 4 boys at home this summer and it would be a great time to build something together as well as have some fun with the trains.

Thanks in advance!

Chris
