Congratulations

First of all a merry and blessed Christmas to one and all at MRH!!! May you be blessed in your coming in and your going out. May you be blessed in the morning and blessed in the evening. May you be blessed in all that you do.

A small part-time staff with far-and-away the best model railroad magazine, and it is free?! The rest of the industry should be embarrassed! Your vision and sacrifice ARE changing the industry. Congratulations to the seemingly tireless staff.

But the unsung heroes of the magazine, and web site too, are all of you, the contributors. There would be NO magazine, and NO web site, without the talented, knowledgeable and articulate contributors who share with all of us. The quality and the depth of your contributions continues to amaze me. This excellence has been and continues to be a group effort so congratulations to one and all!

Right back at you!

All the best this Christmas.

I know this is a bit early but congrats to the MRH team on your first five fantastic years.  Looking forward to the next five!

You've accomplished more in these first five years than I thought would be possible.  Thanks so much for all of your hard work and dedication!

dropping the fires on steam

Dear Editor and Readers-

Going back nearly 40 years, my friends told me that if I wanted to see articles about my favorite railroad, that I should write and submit some myself. But the actual reason for doing this was to get other authors aware that there were more people interested in the railroad.  Nothing had been done about this road in a number of years and I think people figured that no one was interested. (It did work and more pieces started appearing)  I'm glad to hear that people are still interested in steam.  Even a simple steam engine related article would be enough to prime the pump and get more people to start writing up their steam engine projects.

I have a couple of ideas to put down on paper once I finish the models, there are probably others out there who can do this too. I have had a number of publications including somel right here in MRH, and if they work out, I hope to submit my steam engine  projects in the next several months.  -V.S. Roseman

Yay, Victor

Victor Roseman is exactly right - submitting an article and getting it published generates more article submissions on that subject.

Somehow, people need to see it published to realize they can do an article too.

We see this a lot. If we do an article on building trees, we start getting more tree article submissions. If we do an article on weathering freight cars, we start getting more weathering article submissions.

So start submitting those steam-era articles! It will prime the pump for more steam-era articles.
