Okay, this is my first time using the MRH blog. I decided to give it a try; maybe it'll satisfy my needs sufficiently. I don't usually post much because I usually don't have much to post. With two small kids, I really don't have much time or money.

I am a relative newbie when it comes to modeling. Everything I've learned I've learned through researching on the internet, with special emphasis on this forum/magazine. I've read questions and their responses and looked at countless photos and videos.

As I wrap up my day working on the railroad, I find myself with nothing but smiles and a feeling of accomplishment! For the first time in my model railroad life, I have taken a week of vacation from work and have devoted myself to a week of model trains! The Corps of Engineers has been hard at work restoring the old stream out back of Elwood's place. Folks started fishin' (the DNR re-stocked the stream) and swimmin' right away. There's some environmental work to be done with land contouring and trees being planted, but it's a start. Even the new 'facilities' out back got approval from the county.

Things sure move fast now that FEMA is reeling from the criticism it got over the N'awlins Relief Disaster. Not everything is done, but the County Extension Agent has been busy. The well and pump have been certified; and they hired that Pearl woman who runs "The Good Earth" landscaping company to come in and plant trees, ground cover (Elwood doesn't own a mower and sees no sense in buying one) and survey the river bank for some shoring up work later on.

Pere Marquette locomotive needs a workout As I look over my G scale items to run next spring, I came across my #1 gauge Pere Marquette locomotive and caboose. I have been on a quest to find rolling stock for it. I prefer passenger cars however I will take anything in 1/32 scale. So far no luck what so ever. I might just have to resort to having cars custom painted. I have no idea as to what that would cost. I have enough curved track to set up an 8ft circle, but I don't have a transformer yet to power the track.

A new engine has entered the roster at the Euclid yard of THE GREATER NICKEL PLATE. Thanks to help from friends on this site, much sweating, swearing, soldering, testing, re-soldering, re-testing and praying. S-4 Number 12 is alive and running after installation of a new motor and a Z scale decoder.

Starting a Timetable for the 8th Sub

I've been drafting a timetable for the rapidly approaching start of formal operations on the layout. The following posts show some images of how it's shaping up. Formatting, wording and so on are copied from prototype WP timetables wherever practical. So far I'm working with a very abbreviated amount of information, four pages plus the inside and outside covers.
