I recently acquired an old Atlas HO turntable.  It has the motor unit attached but the belts are either so stretched that they don't work, or (more likely) they are the wrong ones.  When I called Atlas, they told me the only belt they have is for a motor unit that uses only one belt.  Mine has two belts, with drive shafts on both ends of the motor and two sheaves connecting the drive gear to the table.  Does anyone know where replacement belts for this old turntable can be obtained?  Or any work-around?

Drive belts

Are the belts the flat type, or round type? Round ones can sometimes be substituted with rubber O rings that you can get at hardware stores.

Belts

Many times a pulley will have a half round groove if a O ring is use.

I had one of those!

The Old (old, old) turntable (circa 1960) was powered by an open-frame motor with (flat) rubber bands.

I had occasion to open it up once... and found it was the same mechanics as the Hustler!

Go to a beauty supply store (Harmon, or similar) and look for hair-styling rubber bands... they come in package with 3 or 4 sizes... and may be just what you need.  Similar to dental braces size... diameter of a nickel or smaller.
