Exibiting at the Doubleheaders Layout Tour - Video

Hi guys,
March 28 was the annual Doubleheaders Layout Tour in the Kitchener-Waterloo area of Southern Ontario. Once again the CNJ Bronx Terminal was exhibited in the registration building.
The Doubleheaders Layout Tour, in its 26th year, is a very well organized self guided tour of up to 40 local layouts in the area. Visitors drop by a centralized registration hall to purchase a map ($5.00) to the various layouts. In the hall is a display with pictures and videos of each layout, along with additional maps and donuts. Here people can choose the layouts they are interested in as well as enjoying the 6 of so layouts set up in the hall (and the donuts). It is here that we now set the Bronx Terminal, as now I live a bit outside the area and it would be too far for people to drive out to see us.
I have been participating in the tour for 14 years now, before with my Port Kelsey Ry, and now with my Bronx Terminal layout.
This year I made videos of the process of dismantling the layout, transporting it to the hall and setting it up early in the day. Some video of the exhibition is also included, along with our visit to John Cantwell's On30 Kaslo & Slocom layout afterward.
Another video of setting the layout back up at home finishes off the series.
Tips for playing videos
If you have a weak connection, like I do, getting the videos to play smoothly takes a bit of coaxing. The best way to watch these is in HD. This can be done with any type of connection, but will take longer on a slower service. Start the video, then click on the “HD” button once it shows up. Then, pause the video and wait for it to steam in for a while. A pink progress line will show the progress, once it is about half way across the progress bar the video can be started again and should play smoothly to the end.
On a page with multiple videos, such as this one, I like to start each one and pause it until all of them have loaded, then come back a few minutes later and watch them. Waiting for the larger HD versions is well worth it.
Enjoy!

That was a Very entertaining set of Videos Tim! I hope you had as much fun Making them as I did watching. The last video Had me laughing so hard I blew soda out my nose and wasn't drinking any. I wonder are you or should I say do you have any plans of powering the Pike and doing any switching or is The CNJ Bronx Terminal a Static Model for the purpose of displaying your fantastic Track work and the Fast Tracks Co.
Oh and speaking of Fast Tracks I'M still Building HO-HOn3 #6 Duel Gauge turnouts with the Fixtures you built me and they are Great and its almost time to reorder more supplies But Keep the videos coming!!!
NARROW gauge MINDED
AND PROUD OF IT
Great videos they are. I was wondering, the display for the Doubleheader is it powered or just a static display model ?

Hi,
Thanks for the feedback.
The layout will soon be operational as was the plan from the beginning. The trackwork is almost all complete, so the next step is to cut the necessary rail gaps and install the trackwork onto the layout. Until now, as can be seen in the videos, the trackwork just sits in place. The next time I will be moving the layout will be for the NMRA Train Show in Hartford, where it will be set up right in our booth at the National Train Show. My goal is to try and have it running by then.
Glad you made it to the last video. I added that one to the collection as a bit of a treat for those that make it through the first three. Judging on the view counts, few do as it is only watched about 1/3 as much as the first three.
Cheers!

Tim, That's some very nice work, quality trackwork you've got there.
It's an interesting little layout.

The last video is hilarious Tim! I really liked the choice of "Yakety Sax" for the soundtrack.
Once again some really great videos and the way your layout comes apart/goes together is awesome. Some really great craftsmanship in the design!
The trackwork on your layout is amazing to say the least. Your Port Kelsey was one of the layouts that kept me dreaming of building another layout until I had the space to do so once again. Thanks for the inspiration!
I'm curious what band/artist is responsible for the great RnB music on the third video? Great train song!
Thanks once again for sharing your videos!

Hi,
That song, "I like trains" is by Fred Eaglesmith. It somehow seems to work....
Thanks Tim for the info and the link.
Yes very appropriate music and a good song too! Fred has a new fan.

Thanks, Tim, for posting these great videos.
Somehow it makes the lack of Movie Monday right now more tolerable ...
I encourage more of you to go shoot video of your modeling pursuits (or prototype railfanning), post it on YouTube or blip.tv, and then drop it into a thread on here!
We're getting over 20,000 unique visitors on here a month now, so you'll push some traffic to your video if you post it into a thread on here!
