This Model RR is part of a group in the Atlanta area called Dixie Rails. This video was taken during a operations event attended by 50 operators from around the country. This RR will be part of the NMRA national convention in Atlanta July 2013. I will post video of three more outstanding layouts. http://m.youtube.com/?reload=3&rdm=mc3h057ml#/watch?feature=m-ch-vid&v=U0WWvWv8JYk

impressive

I thought this was a club when I started watching the video.  Where can I get more information about this layout?

Thomas Lloyd's layout will be open to the public on

November 11th this year.  Thomas is a member of the Piedmont Division, and his layout is on the Piedmont Pilgrimage open house tour at 11:00 AM.  Look at the Piedmont Div web site (piedmont-div.org), and click on the Piedmont Pilgrimage link.  There's a calendar (click on the 11th), and it's also searchable by railroad and by railroader.  What's really exciting about Thomas' layout is that he's only been building it for about 5 years!  He's a talented young man, and has recently revamped his layout to enhance operations, since he's also a member of the Joint Railway Association of Georgia (JRAG), a round robin operating group of Atlanta-area modelers not associated with the NMRA.  I've been lucky enough to have operated on several of the JRAG layouts, and have been able to incorporate lots of lessons learned into my own layout, the most important of which is that my knees don't work well with duck-unders or crawl-unders!  Anyway, if any of you are in the area on ANY weekend in November, and the next 2 in October, we'll have 5 or 6 layouts open every day in North Georgia.  Just click on the Piedmont Pilgrimage link at piedmont-div.org.

Dixie Rails Not a Club

Their will be three more videos of the 9 layouts that are part of Dixie Rails.  They are not a formal club and all of the layouts are individually owned.  I do not give out more information without their permission.  If you live in the area and want to find out more suggest you visit the Trainmasters Hobby Shop, Buford, GA.  Right along side the NS main line.  Video will be posted.  The owner is building a room for modelers to set up and display modules and other model train items on weekends. This is a great play to meet modelers in the area and become a part of the Atlanta area model railroad world.  Most of these layout will also be part of the NMRA National Convention,   http://www.nmra2013.org/

This group has a round robin operating schedule that every Friday night they operate at one of the layouts. Being an operations person this is great.  We have four layouts and rotate.  This means they operate about every two months or six time a year on one layout.  They have a seniority system for each layout to pick jobs.
