There has been a bit of a discussion on carving foam rocks on the Forum at:

http://model-railroad-hobbyist.com/node/9085

This gave me the impetus to start working on some mountainous areas of my layout that had been bare beadboard waiting for plaster rock moulds for a long time.

There has been a bit of a learning curve involved in the carving, but I'm at the point now that I might never use plaster again.

It's one of those things that takes longer to explain than to do, but I'm toying with the idea of putting together a little how to video. I've actually got quite a bit of video of me carving, my friends bring their cameras during get togethers and they have a nasty habit of taping away behind my back as I work. Consequently, most of the video is me muttering, cursing and generally making snide comments on the world in general. Not fit for posting   ; )

Foam and Cal Coat 127 on GP

I have been using foam and Cal Coat 127 for over 20 years. I will not allow plaster of any type in my train building. Take a min and visit my web site, watch videos and look at pictures on how to do it. This link will take you to the latest project. http://www.grandepacificmodelrr.org/html/rock_ridge_photos_13.html

@ Beig

We both must be doing something wrong. My YouTube video links show up on my Kindle Fire HD as a gray square with a puzzle piece in the center. Yet when I look at M.C.'s videos they are fine. Now I look at your post and the YouTube link is a gray square with a puzzle piece in the center. This HD has a YouTube player posted on it. I wonder if it is how we are posting the link?
