Detroit Terminal Railroad: Highland Park Industrial Track

It's been a very productive couple of days. Once again, I've added a new post over at Motor City Rollercoaster, my blog about modeling a modern day version of the Detroit Terminal Railroad. In this installment, I take a detailed look at the relatively short but operationally challenging Highland Park Industrial Track.

I hope you enjoy it.

My Old "Stomping Grounds"

Rich: The Greater Detroit Area was where I did a huge amount of photography in the

1970's. I lived near Pontiac and whenever I had a day off I would rail fan the

railroads near Pontiac all the way to Toledo,Ohio. I believe I have a pix of a

Detroit Terminal loco. One of my favorite small railroads was the Toledo Terminal.

I loved that era because it was before the railroad merger era and there was

a lot of  variety in motive power, cabooses and industries served by rail. I would

even be allowed in towers, as railroaders loved the company, and we rail fans

were no threat to them. The only time I had any problems was with the N&W, as

they did not like rail fans near their property. Most railroad workers would stop

and talk with you and fill you in on the newest things happening on their line.

I like what you are doing in your research and modeling of the DT. Keep us

         informed of your progress.

Yours, Elvin Howland/E, St.Louis Rail Group Layout
