JMRI Questions again...
OK i got this thing hooked up to me computer. Follow all of the directions, but it does not detect any loco's on the program track or the main (OP's Mode). Now it did detect one bachmann decoder (non-sound), but my MRC (sound) and Bachmann Tsunami it does not see. I was able to run this engine with the computer throttle, but that was it.
So if you have any advice I would appreciate it. I have posted on the Yahoo groups, but no feed back (well one post) so far.
Also, on the opening page it says that you can choose programing track or mainline for programing. But this does not seem to help. My sound engine will go quiet while the software tries to detect it (the engine) then it says "no engine detected, and the sound on the engine comes back on.
Should I uninstall and reinstall the software again?
nothing comes easy with me :)
any help would be appreciated.

You know, now that I think about it, I wonder if I need a program booster? Since it seems that this is happening with my sound decoders. Maybe.
Probably need booster
I have one Tsunami I can program on the main and one (an Athearn Genesis) that I can not program any where without a booster. I got a Soundtraxx PTB-100 and everything is readable and programmable on the programmng track.
I LOVE DecoderPro! Programming decoders would be SOOOOOO much more tedious without it.

Well the update is
Well the update is that...
1) The JMRI is talking to the NCE. I used the throttle to run my engines no problem.
2) I used my power cab to try and read the CV's and the manufacturer. It could not read the CV's, so I guess it is the decoder.
3) But I did set the address on the programing track, and it is now responding on the main.
4) I will get the booster and speed match as best as I can.
thanks for all of the help on this site. Without it I would be lost.

JMRI
Hi.
You can get a lot of help in the JMRI Yahoo group.

A H0 layout in Denmark
can't read sound decoders
The problem with sound decoders on the programming track is they draw too much current and the system sees it as a short. It will not try to read anything on the programming track under those conditions. It will, however, allow you to upload settings to the decoder, so you can set the address at least. After that you can program on the main without problems. Since you will be able to send all the settings to the locomotive from Decoderpro, you will have the same settings in your computer files, even without being able to download them from the decoder. Just remember to save them before shutting down the computer.
We did get a programming track booster for the club layout and it solved our downloading problems as well.
