120 day challenge first update blog

B and B Railways's picture

Well, after accepting the 120 day challenge that was posted, I was able to complete one of my goals so far.  I was able to get more wood to finish the bench work.  Although running out, I was able to get a small 4ft section of plywood after my wife told me so I grabed it for only a few dollars.  SO for now, all benchwork was done, and the next step is a bit of cleaning and sorting what is going where, and then on to the pink foam.  So without further delay here are some new pictures...

So the above picture shows where my bridge part extends from the stairs to here.  The section that connects is where the rest of the layout carries the main line to the yard

This is the bridge (what I am calling it for now) from the section above to the stairs.  There is a wood block here, to prevent the cats from getting on the layout.  This section also locks into place to prevent moving, and can be taken out at anytime.  This will also have my overpass and a set of signals too.

Here is the center section of the layout.  The section at the bottom of the picture joins to the bridge section-the corner section-only put in when trains will be running, and the section in the top is the start of the yard

here is the center section that goes towards my swing gate.  The post here will be incorporated and before it, will be the lumber company.

Here is the swing gate that will be left open when not in use.  It is chained up to the roof, to prevent it from sagging and it giving it any issues to where it is connected

This view is back toward the head of the basement, and of the center section of he layout

Here is the gate closed, and it also locks into place too

this section here will be home to the mine site that will be  on this end of the line

this section joins up the the group of modules under the stairs

And here it is back to the stairs again...

So that is the layout at first glance...there are a few smaller sections that I need to add, but those will be coming soon.  Although there was on slight error that I came across, my yard is in the wrong place and needs to move about a foot.  Thankfully the room is there, and that I had my plan to refer too

Love the Ripped Plywood

Your plywood frame looks good.  You can save money doing it this way.  Home Depot has been selling 4 x 8 sheets in my area for under $30 fur 9 ply plywood for 4 years.  Suggest you consider lift out that the gate approach.
